Oh you bet he’ll be doing that ![]()
@naimophile btw have you listened to the Momentum’s DAC? I see that integrated and preamps can have streaming module added. Not sure if DAC is the same regardless of the model or they have different classes of DACs.
Nope .. have not . Those add one are upon request only . So most dealers carry sets without add on dacs
They might sound good and maybe better and/or different compared to my 332/333/NPX300*2/250, but to my eye, they are nearly as ugly as a Macintosh. I couldn’t live with them. I do have friends who would love this look, so it is all down to what we like rather than better or worse looking. Whilst it was SQ that initially attracted me to Naim, the aesthetics are also important.
Where do you have your NPX300 connected to? I love my series 300 including the NCV TT BUT have not gotten power supplies yet.
I believe OP wants to scale down boxes counts and also explore different sound signature in other hi fi makes, and along came DD, and to he’s liking
DD looks very different in live vs pictures. I too , at first have questions on the look , but when I see the real thing , believe me, it’s the best exotic looks and feel in the hi fi market , the finishes it’s beyond look , the texture is amazing. Not easy to put this up altogether as a box . Seeing is believing, many of my dealers love the feel of the DD, complimenting the works on the finishes . Feel the knot, awesome precision making .
The maker , DD, love watches and the concept comes from there .
DD is local to me. Beautiful boxes and I’ve listened to various combinations over the years but the sound never compelled me to explore further. I’ve been trying to reduce box count for years and I’ve gotten as close as I can get with three boxes currently.
The 333 and 332 are powered by NPX300s
@naimophile you’ll be the end of me mate.
I arranged both DD and dCS Rossini Apex for a home demo this weekend. ![]()
The only thing I’m not sure now is should I try Progression Integrated or Progression S350 stereo? ![]()

If you are 100
only on streaming , the 350 will work .
Having an integrated allows you to have other sources options.
U try both - one on Rossini pre on the power , the other integrated on the progression pre .
Both pre amp will give you different sound
You can’t go wrong with the Rossini apex on both
Also , try the Rossini on the naim.
it gives LIFE to your naim .
Make sure you see the word apex behind the dac. And the dealer should have mosaic - dcs app for streaming , request that so you can listen through mosaic , and can swap filter ONLY in mosaic .
Enjoy your home demo !! ![]()
Thanks for all the advice! ![]()

Yup, I’m 100% streaming however I decided to try the Progression Integrated at this point given it can be run in theater pass-through.
It should have more than enough juice in output stage, and I can then test both the Linn into pre and dCS into power.
Oh yeah, I’m looking forward to trying Rossini on the current Naim as well! This will be THE weekend. ![]()
It is an Apex, oh yeah the DAC filters, will try it out via the app, thx!
Cool!! Enjoy your busy demo weekend !! ![]()
Thanks!
@naimophile got the Rossini earlier today and managed to do some listening against Linn. ![]()
Conditions: 332/300/350, Roon streaming (light DSP), Atlas XLR cabling to 332, volume matched inputs
Winner: dCS
On simpler tracks, without fast or heavy rhythms, the difference is smaller, although layering, separation and imaging is clearly better in all cases with dCS. The sound stage is similar in size.
Anything more complex, with more stuff in the lower registers, the difference gets significant. Timbre and texture are seriously impressive, especially in the bass. I didn’t know what I’m missing down there.
At the same time, other frequencies stay consistent, with great balance across the whole range.
When the complexity of a particular track kicks in, the layering and instrument separation is seriously better. Linn here comparatively ‘struggles’ with more complex tunes.
For anyone listening to slower paced and maybe simpler music, Linn is a great value. For everything else, dCS clearly shows its strengths.
Still early hours but this is a serious DAC! ![]()
Do you have any suggestions for filters and maps? I’m using DSD upsampling with filter 1 and map 1.
Best not to try the Rossini with the external clock.
It makes quite a noticeable difference…
This is the manual for filters / mapping .
You can try them on.
I am using filter 2/3 . Filter 1 is default . I did not toy w the mapping , however in dCS forum , some did toy with the mapping , which one day I will do so .
And yes, happy you can hear the immense difference w the dCS .dCS dac is on another level, it’s one of the top tier dac in the market .
That’s the reason why I have spent £40 k on my Valhalla 2 for the dCS, and more coming , tells alot how much I can stretch this dac,. When all my cablings are done with (full loom) , running in one at a time, then I will go for the clock .
Shall write more later . Gonna get busy now !!! Meanwhile , enjoy!! The attack on dCS is best I had heard against its peers , yet so refine!!!
Throw the most demanding recordings at it , it will not falter . That’s one of the strong point in a dCS Rossini
Thanks! I’m going to try it directly to 350s. What’s your experience? Do you think you’d need 332 if you’d only stream?
I have yet to go direct to 350 , because I have my esoteric . ![]()
@tt33 are you in US? are you affected by the tariffs? Goods from the Europe into US?
