Just to be clear, the answer is NO.
BUT, I am enjoying the best digital audio I ever have at home having made four changes.
This is based upon:
- Good well matched components;
- Good grounding;
- Good equipment support.
The changes:
- Upgraded the support under my DAC, PSU and pre-amp to Isoacoustic iso-pucks;
- Upgraded my Audiostore Prestige II. Rebuilt to Ultra including 16GB RAM & 12th gen CPU;
- Used Mosaic to feed my dCS NB; and
- Added a pair of super-tweeters.
I would not say any was more important than the others. They each made a tad of difference, that was additive.
What was the difference?
I will describe the difference in one area - cymbals.
I have spent many years listening to the real thing. They are never sharp. With some of my music they could be just that bit over insistent. Something that doesn’t happen on vinyl, although that can have its own issues.
Now the ring, whether struck or brushed. They form a better part of the sound-stage.
The music is more RELAXED.
Doesn’t mean it is perfect. But, I feel the system is doing a better job of giving me the music, and what is left is irreconcilable issues in the recording.
Has a friend over for a long listening session last night. It was interesting to switch to Qobuz, he wanted to listen to Copland’s, ‘The Tender Land’.
The music was still excellent, but those upper frequencies didn’t land quiet so well.
