Din vs rca

Good morning, I’m curious to know why Naim prefers din-din connections between source and preamplifier instead of the more universal RCA ones. Thanks.

I think I already posted a link in answer to your question in another thread - The FAQ thread tells you why.

The answer is here:

Why Naim use DIN Connectors - Frequently Asked Questions - Naim Audio - Community

And a quick question before this thread gets locked (not covered in the FAQ)

So why do Naim prefer to use DIN connectors?

The obvious reason: DIN connections sound better than RCAs…

Does that imply that a DIN to RCA cable is going to sound only as good an RCA cable?

There’s still some advantage even when just one end has a DIN (also tested by yours truly at the factory).

Is there a clear reason why DIN connectors should sound better than RCA ones? Or is it just that there’s only one ground wire, preventing ground loops?

There are other advantages. There’s the aforementioned impedence match, but perhaps more significantly, they avoid the issue of eddy currents where you have lots of metal with multiple points of contact - this must be significant as the best RCA connectors (WBT Next Gen for example) try hard to avoid this with only a single contact point. DIN pins also tend to ‘self clean’ when they are inserted.
