How sad. Always loved the Art of Noise’s cover of Peter Gunn, but also his work on Zimmer’s electronic spaghetti western score to Broken Arrow.
RIP Duane Eddy. One of the great guitar players of his generation.
Remember my father playing his records👍
@Gazza …He was also a great friend of Richard Hawley and visited Sheffield regularly.
If you are interested I can recommend a 2011 CD Duane Eddy Road Trip which Richard co produced and wrote two tracks in collaboration with Duane for the CD.
Earlier this morning, Richard Hawley was reported as saying on Today on BBC R4, ‘one note from him on the big Gretsch and you knew it was Duane Eddy.’
RIP
Pre primary school I still remember investigating how to work my Mum’s mono record player and her tiny collection of 45’s, and a couple of EP 's including Duane Eddy “Mr Twang” … must see if it’s on Spotify …
Not many will have experienced that EP at the vast range of speed options I was able to try!
I remember Duane Eddy in the 50s and 60s.
Saw him in April 1960 at Birmingham Hippodrome with Bobby Darin and Clyde McPhatter (original lead singer of the Drifters). (yes folks that is 64 years ago).
