As an aside, and minor thread drift, was thinking, quite seriously, about swapping my NC 250/Titan 505’s for ATC Active 20’s, either stand mounts or floorstanders.
Auditioned the standmounts and quite liked them, would reduce box count by one (apparently the floorstanders sound identical and, apart from being more expensive, are aesthetically more appealing), but it’s not one of those grab you by the collar moments either.
Change for changes sake…..?

Hey,
Do you have ability/room for a second system?
I only ask as you seem fairly determined to try something new but are hesitant, and I can fully understand why, in committing to changing your already excellent system.
I set up a second system in a shed (other spare rooms would suffice) in the garden a couple of years ago and I do really like swapping between the two - I find it nice to compare/contrast 
maybe I’m weird I don’t know….
My only reservation with active SCM20s (special edition were the ones I heard at my dealer) was the lack of sub bass compared to my set up - but I do think I’m a bit of bass head so worth bearing in mind. Other than that flow, detail and mid range were excellent.
Bottom line I’d consider changing but only for a significant improvement in sound or if I needed to downsize.

Ah drat…..maybe retain both and swap to suit your mood if you have the storage or loan to family.
Failing that concentrate on the music - without wishing to sound like patronising di*k. Best.

Unless you have an issue with your existing system that’s solved by the active SCM 20s it was never going to be an easy decision so definitely a two pipe problem.
I feel I want to walk you away from the edge but mulling over options and experiencing alternatives is absolutely part of the hobby.
Right I’ve got too many splinters now and not enough answers so get your dilemma.
