The Hu, who fuse throat singing with heavy metal and Mongolian tradition instrumentation.

Great music on their debut album, The Gereg, in its own right.
Wolf Totem and Yuve Yuve Yu were streaming successes leading to commercial successes with Billboard chart placings in their own right, Wolf Totem reaching No 1 in the metal streaming chart.

The deluxe version of The Gereg produced clever marketing in the US and Europe by reworking a couple of songs “Wolf Totem” ft Jackoby Shaddix (Papa Roach)
So b of Women ft Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) leading to US Tours and a support slot for Metallica.

Go back as far as Sheila Chandra & her (one time) group Monsoon. Possibly where “it all started”?

Also look up Shiva Nova.

Not at all a brilliant record.

Totally new to me but a quick listen to Monsoon’s Third Eye and it’s in my tidal playlist I’ll give it a proper listen whilst I’m away many thanks.

I think that “back in the day” {as they say} SC/Monsoon were filed under “Indy Pop” (“Indipop”?).

Now this is interesting….(got it streaming on Bandcamp as I type).

As We Speak is a brand new release from by Banjo player Béla Fleck, tabla player Zakir Hussain, and bassist Edgar Meyer with Indian flautist Rakesh Chaurasia

What do you get when you cross Indian Classical, Bluegrass and Jazz…

This is one of my favorite ECM albums of recent decades, by the Tunisian Oud virtuoso, Anouar Brahem. This album never ceases to blow me away when I hear it. I never get tired of it.

The Astounding Eyes Of Rita
Anouar Brahem – oud
Klaus Gesing – bass clarinet
Björn Meyer – electric bass
Khaled Yassine – darbouka, bendir

Anouar is one of the real shining lights on ECM’s line up unfortunately as you know all of his output on ECM except Blue Maqams , Barzakh and La Pas Du Chat Noir are CD only I have the first two and La Pas is on my list.

Also Madar with Jan Garbarek is on the LUMINESSENCE release list so excellent news there.

I have the three vinyl releases of his. Otherwise I stream his albums on Qobuz. Some are hi-res. Astounding Eyes of Rita is 24/96. I feel like he’s due for a new release. The last one – Blue Maqams – came out in 2017.

Gosh, my fat fingers while perusing Bandcamp…

Lots of Arushi purchased. Can’t think how that happened

Miles From India is a superb example of this type of fusion: Came out in 2008 and is a compilation of music from different artists. Difficult to get hold of and not on Qobuz. I got a second hand 2xcd from Amazon. Worth tracking down if you into this type of music

Inspired by the music of Miles Davis too
