As I cycle everywhere I keep basic tools, lock, lights, and things like paracetamol and odds and ends in my bike pannier, plus swimming gear as I often go for a swim, obviously water bottle, lunch, helmet, the list goes on…

I always like to have a pocket knife on me - recently it is a Spyderco UKPK. It’s legal here in the UK and can be opened with one hand which is handy if you have a package or something to peel in the other hand.
Other than that I have a pen with a glass breaker on the end, and I keep a stiff guitar pick handy which can be useful to pry or twist things.
