EDC Pocket Dump

What do you EDC? It’s more or less what you discreetly carry and deem essential in tackling what life throws at you.

Here’s mine today:

Apple iPhone 13 / AirPods (1st Gen)
Ray-Ban Wayfarer’s
Chris Reeve - Small Sebenza 31
Lynch Northwest - Titanium Prybar
OLIGHT I3T EOS Flashlight
Knipex Cobra XS Pliers
NGMCo - Black Ultem bead on titanium keyring
Herschel Supply Co. Wallet

Why don’t you just use the light on your phone?

I can clip my Olight somewhere like my hat and keep my hands free when working. Sometimes my phone isn’t bright enough.

Are you a huntsman?

If you need a hands free light that points where you look, we rockclimbers use Petzel headtorches.

Does that stand for essential daily carry?

If so, it’s a small key ring with my house, office and bike keys, a leather card wallet I got free from first direct bank about 25 years ago and iPhone 11, handkerchief.

Years ago I would often carry a Swiss Army knife, but no longer.

Yes, or everyday carry.

Rock climbers must carry interesting gear, no?

Yes, if climbing outdoors, but I almost always climb indoor walls these days, often cycle to one with my son.

As I cycle everywhere I keep basic tools, lock, lights, and things like paracetamol and odds and ends in my bike pannier, plus swimming gear as I often go for a swim, obviously water bottle, lunch, helmet, the list goes on…

Speaking of tools, I recently picked up this Wera multi-bit driver, but a bit too bulky to add to my EDC:

Nice, a Montblanc fountain?

Sadly I live in New York and a conceal carry license is out of my reach.

Parker Duofold, if the brand matters. Used every day for 20+ years in work (and it wasn’t young when I was given it) and several times a week in ‘retirement’.

To paraphrase. The pen is mightier than the Ti multi-tool.

If we went out in the UK with this and got stopped by the Old Bill we would be in so much deep sh1t.

Couldn’t function without this.

Had it about myself constantly when managing a property in France. Became self-conscious of its illegality when I moved back to urban England and now happily reunited in deepest rural Wales.

Probably wouldn’t have a dog without -

iPhone, Snot rag and poo bags.
House key around my neck along with Shokz headphones listening to the TMS or a pod cast.

I always like to have a pocket knife on me - recently it is a Spyderco UKPK. It’s legal here in the UK and can be opened with one hand which is handy if you have a package or something to peel in the other hand.

Other than that I have a pen with a glass breaker on the end, and I keep a stiff guitar pick handy which can be useful to pry or twist things.

The term going equipped would be a ride in the plodvan. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Carrying a knife sounds weird, why not a couple of knuckle dusters too? All I carry is keys and my phone.

Prefer to keep things simple
