It doesn’t get much better than this week’s Stuart Marconie’s Freak Zone on 6 Music.
Featured album Another Green World, The Night Watch from Starless and Bible Black and Nuclear Burn from Unorthodox Behaviour. Three albums regularly played here.

That got me thinking of a connection. Robin Lumley from Brand X lived next door to David Bowie and he played keyboards on the early Ziggy tours.
Eno collaborated with Bowie and Fripp played on two Bowie albums.
I’ll add Maconie is a big Bowie fan.
Robert Fripp, Percy Jones and Phil Collins also played on Another Green World.
Good connection, I like that.
Unbelievably there was a single out by English comedian Charlie Drake which features Brian Eno on Mellotron, Robert Fripp on guitar, Percy Jones on bass, Phil Collins on drums.
Add just to make it more bizarre Peter Gabriel and Sandy Denny on backing vocals.
I kid you not!
Charlie Drake - You Never Know
Fripp’s solo on “St Elmo’s Fire” is on my short list of top guitar solos of the rock era. So distinctive. Channeling Boccherini it almost sounds like.
The Freak Zone is always a good listen, giving me a good introduction to many obscure artists that would never get air time during daylight hours, not even on 6 Music.
