Ethernet cables - YOUR LISTENING Shooutout Summary

No. I made one item substitution at a time, until I was left with my best combination, with the Sigma. Then it was a simple compare, between the best combination and just Sigma.

Is it a longer Sigma then or you have the router next to your 333?

The Sigma is 1.5m, whereas the BJC from the router, is 7m long.

BJC to the router you mean? Or do you have Sigma from wall to router and BJC from router to 333?

Sorry I’m confused :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Sorry about that. Yes, it’s router to network input on K41, with 7m BJC. Then direct stream output on K41 to NS33 network input, with 1.5m Sigma V2.

With the Antipodes servers things are a bit more nuanced, as you can never “fully” remove the switch, i.e. the K41 server in this case is acting as a switch/reclocker, providing a dedicated and isolated ethernet port for connecting the streamer. I have also found the Sigma works great in this setup.

Bought 3.6m of Furutech LAN 8 NCF Plus to evaluate between router and switch. ETA unknown.

Thank you for the information. I always believed that there was no re clocking/switch in the K41 and this was performed by the K21/K22. However, this does make sense, with what I hear.

When do you need to rent a room for cable storage

Very colourful rats nest.

I have put on a second 2m Ansuz A2 into the system. This time between Roon server and Cisco, thinking that this bidirectional link will be particularly noisy.

Also inserted these supercap modules into the Cisco and the Buffalo GS2016.

Did everything at once due to lack of time. :see_no_evil_monkey:

The end result is amazing. Wao…

Very curious to that cable! Keep us posted.

I have this ethernet cable. It is excellent but I’m only comparing to a $100 cat 8 cable I had before. Mine is placed between switch and NDX2.

Any of you familiar with Melco S100? It is being offered in combination with a ADOT MC01 converter. Appearantly it uses an optical signal in order to eliminate noise..

Does the cable itself have a Naimlike character, or does it better bring out the Naim sound of your system?

You make a good point. Sigma is very transparent, natural and uncoloured, so it could be that it offers you a more pure signal and you are just hearing deeper into ND’s character? Shunyata certainly seem to know how to make decent cables. I’d quite like to try one of their Sigma X mains cable against a Powerline.

The Melco S100 is actually a recased & tweaked Buffalo GS2016. I saw that very S100 / ADOT this evening online, looks a good deal.

Buffalo own Melco now Dela.

I have a GS2016 with an enhanced Pink Faun clock that’s fed by two LPSUs - Plixir 12v and Farad Super3 5v - with an ADOT SFP in the Buffalo connected by 10 metres Single Mode fibre optic over two floors to an ADOT FMC /SFP (Farad 5v LPSU) and final 1.5 metres BJC cat 6A to my Selekt

I also have my own made-up Viabluecable with Telegartner connectors from the Buffaloto to my Atom HE.

My Antipodes CX (G3) is in the network cupboard with with the GS2016 linked by BJC Cat 6

A separate Cisco 2960 handles the PC and other non-audio data

Works well and no desire to upgrade…..

At 4x the cost of course, which makes the value proposition quite challenging in a multi-box system.

At £6500 each i would probably say invest that money into better gear first
