I don’t even know what POE is, let alone whether it would improve SQ!
POE is powered by Ethernet. @anon77199223 recently tested it with great results for him. The noise seems to be still lower.
Have not tested myself.
@frenchrooster,…Of course not,.when development stops, our society and the world die out.

@MidnightRambler,…Can you put in a picture of this Sean Jacobs power supply,.and tell us a little more about it.
We are testing external LPS to dual-Ciscos,.so this can also be interesting.
/Peder🎅🏻
Hi Peder.
I tried a Sean Jacobs 48v dc3 supply on the cisco 2 years ago and to me there was no benefit.
Strange,.for this usual VoltCraft LPS (see picture),that we calibrated to 12V to use for a Cisco Catalyst WS2960-8TC-L.
It contributed to a significantly better soundquality.
We then first dismantled the internal SMPS powersupply on our Cisco.
Ps: Is this Sean Jacobs,.an SMPS or a Linear Power Supply.?

Hopefully I can post this link to the Sean Jacobs DC3 This is the basic PSU to which we have referred, which Sean will customise to individual requirements. He’s the guy who designed the Statement power supply for Innuos. It’s a regulated LPS. I have one for my Roon Nucleus+. It made a nice difference.
Blimey, I’d better get tweaking, don’t want the world to die!
“Carry on tweaking” Syd and Hattie will be proud of you…we are all depending on you.
I will try a different set up with my cascade Ciscos tomorrow.
Router > BJ cat 6a > Cisco 8tc > vodka > Cisco 8tt > Diamond > melco n1h2 > Diamond > nds
Tomorrow : Router > vodka > Cisco > Diamond > Cisco > BJ cat 6a > Melco > Diamond > nds.
I feel I will not prefer that set up. But want to try. DB prefers his direct cable ( 3 euros / m) between melco and switch vs vodka.
Test finished : The original set up sounds best ( Diamond between melco and switch and diamond between nds and melco)
FR, have you tried the Melco on the first switch so only the streamer is on the second switch?
It’s not possible to do that, because the streamer is connected to the melco switch. So if I connect the second switch of the melco to the first Cisco switch, the second Cisco has no reason to exist. ( nothing will be connected to the second switch in that case).
Tomorrow I’m going try eliminating a BJC 6a from router to first switch and replace it with a Cinnamon and hear how I get on. I’m starting to overdose on too many pairs of jeans, could do with another Vodka really (help inject a bit more life) but will go with a Cinnamon to start with, hear how I get on…
Apparently the quality of the cable between the 2 Ciscos is very important, from what I read of others. More than between the router and first Cisco.
Ah ok, well this can be done also, with another Cinnamon. I’m tempted to go to my dealer also and see if I can trial another Vodka
Thanks
If cinnamon sounds better than BJ…Not sure. Perhaps another vodka ( 0,75 m) between the 2 Cisco will give some adrenaline ?
Yes, this is my next move if the Cinnamon doesn’t hit the mark.
It’s true,.and it’s very easy to hear the difference,on different cables between (Cisco) Switch1 and (Cisco) Switch 2.
This is despite the fact,.that some still say they don’t hear a difference between ehternet/streaming-cables.
For us,.this is very difficult to understand.

Just a quick observation:
I am trying the Cinnamon in between my switches now and it’s not as good as BJC 6a so have decided to revert back. Will see if I can get hold of a (0.75) Vodka on Tuesday and go from there.
Well I have packed away both the PD Cisco Catalysts and the first one with internal PSU and will be selling them. I think the EtherRegen makes them irrelevant unless the cost puts them out of reach, in which case you can buy a used or new old model for a sixth of the price, or a third if using two. There’s no point in buying a new Cisco for sound quality benefits.
I suppose mileage may vary in other systems, but for anyone with a 500 series system I doubt it.
