Ethernet Switch and Cables Mania

Hi Peder

You may remember the august member from the Forum’s last incarnation, J-N.
He invented the technique of isolating the crossovers from his Allaes by putting a large car cleaning sponge between the unscrewed crossover and the speaker cabinet.
So it might look crap but why not try a large sponge as a base for a switch?
Or would that wobble as the switch vibrates and lack solidity?
Hic!
Lovely Monday glass of Gnarly Dudes Two Hands
But probably a really terrible idea!

The wiki quotes a Fiat 500, there’s one of those round the corner. When when every one has gone to bed I’ll pop out and borrow them. I’m sure it will be fine without as long as it stays below 30 mph.

Ah, Peter, looking forward to your arrival. No audiophiles in here for me to talk to.

:small_blue_diamond:@NigelB,…Do you live close to each other.?

/Peder🙂

If that’s your red 500, give us a hand with the trolly jack would you, its stuck.

:small_blue_diamond:@JimDog,…It took a while,.but I think I remember.
Sure,.he added pictures of it too.?

Yes - he’s the same chap who discovered the joys of the .music-works block too…

:small_blue_diamond:@JimDog,…Is he not here on this forum.?

/Peder🙂

No.
He never made the switch to the new forum.
But I still chat with him occasionally on email.
He wrote a piece for Signals on the effect of the Musicworks block which helped to popularise that a while ago.

He is always reconstructing his sound systems and loves the music…

:small_blue_diamond:@JimDog,…Good to hear,.has he still his Allae.?
Some changed the nickname on the new forum,.so I don’t recognize all.
Is Huge here,.or did she disappeared with the old forum.?

/Peder🙂

No he has now downsized his Titans to 505s.
And iirc LS3/5A in his second system.

Think Huge is Xanthe?
(Or did I imagine that?)

Nothing personal but I think you’re all nuts. Here’s an idea. When ones mucking about comparing Ethernet cables, take a break, go out side take a few deep breaths, have a glass of cold water. Now listen again. Bet it all sounds different.

You may have imagined it, but that doesn’t stop it being true (which it actually is!).

Done that.
Yep, the improvement’s still the same as it was!

Too late mate. I have already whipped out all the usable bushings from my Fiat 500 and they are wedged under and between bits of HiFi, which is sounding great BTW. The Fiat rattles a bit though.

This will be cheap,.we just need to go out and breathe…
And drink a glass of cold water.
That we didn’t think about it .

/Peder🙂

Tried that and cold water doesn’t work. Now a large single malt makes everything sound better…

What about Cinnamon flavoured Vodka?

One subtle clue is that you still have the same icon.

I am still hearing it, will most probably have to give it back in the coming days and make a decision on the path forward.
