Boo. Dodgy keeper :slightly_frowning_face:

Does the surface of modern footballs prevent the keeper from catching them?
You see keepers punching and pushing the ball out that would have been caught a few years back.

:man_shrugging:, however it is P*****G it down! :joy:

So how embarrassing was that! Portugal :portugal: :man_shrugging: :joy:

Boo…

Czechs should have had free kick, instead down the other end, another fumble and it’s in.

Portugal never had my sympathy. I’d love to see them fail.

Yep. The Portuguese guy certainly understands the term ‘to take somebody out’ !!
Terrible reffing.

Thanks God Portugal won. Right result. Czechs were garbage.

They caught a wet ball in years gone by. It just seems to be a trend to punch or push rather than catch. It may be the modern ball moves in the air more.

Probably this.

Hopefully some good games later today.
I will be hoping Scotland :scotland: can muster up something special tonight. Need a bit of luck :four_leaf_clover: sometimes :crossed_fingers:

Do you not just think it’s Ronaldo and the power he wields? Would anyone else pick him or claim that his contribution is huge? Missed 5 chances where years back he’d have taken 4. Now he just looks a sad shadow of who he used to be and there’s something genuinely unlikeable about a manager simply too scared to say “your international career is at a end” for the greater good.

There is of course also Fernandes.

I used to think this but I’ve a friend whose grandson is a Premier League keeper and he says not. They’re trained to get the ball away from goal rather than catch. I find it bewildering as it’s not as though there are too many who can punch well or actually do that.

As an outsider I’ve enjoyed all the games I’ve watched.

Goalkeepers do catch the ball when they can, they are not trained to just punch (although that seems more common in foreign goalies who seem to punch the ball away more).

The dry weight of footballs used has been unchanged for over 80 years. Lighter modern balls are a myth. However, the panel technology has meant the modern balls move more in the air, which is why you see goalkeepers punching/parrying more, particularly from free-kicks.

You must have missed the England v Serbia game then :joy:

:rofl::rofl:

Tbh I did fall asleep during the 2nd half.
