Exploring Mains Polarity on Continental European Naim Systems (with some surprisingly low multimeter readings!)

Hi

I never measured the way you showed. My measurement are for polarity only. Which means measuring the ground leak on the connected device.

On older European homes, many are wired as positive or negative in any combination. There was always a difference in which was ‘live’ and which was ‘return’ between France and Germany for example. There are now common standards across the EU but prior to that electrical installations will vary.

Because I’ve heard that reversed polarity of mains outlets is not unheard of on French and other mainland European campsites I took to carrying a mains tester and a crossover cable in my campervan to ensure no issues that if I plug in (though not something I’ve yet needed to do since installing a bigger solar system, Li battery and inverter).

? what is that?

I know what snogging is, but not how it came to be in place of “is not”! Duly amended, thanks!
