Export album list from dBpoweramp?

Is there a way to export a list of albums from dBpoweramp or any of the associated apps from Illustrate? I did quick Google search and another here on the forum but don’t see a straightforward answer. Would like to have a catalogue of the CDs that I have / have ripped and this seems like the easiest way vs hauling boxes out of storage.

If anyone has done this, would appreciate whatever guidance is out there. Even it its ‘can’t be done’ :grinning:

May I ask what the issue is with the list that your app on your phone displays?

I’l like to export it to excel

If you used the default folder structure, then it should be possible to use that as your primary listing; although it may need editing it should be a good start.

I haven’t found a way of doing it from either dbPoweramp, or its companion apps.

I use a very old (as in no longer supported) CD database program on the PC, and I can get a listing from that.

(I see that I’ve spoken about this before in a thread started by the OP in 2023)

I believe there are terminal commands that will direct a listing of a folder tree to a text file in Windows or Mac, a search will reveal. Personally I use SongKong to tag my albums and you can get a very detailed Excel view of your entire library using that app. The creator is great at support too. Roon also has good Excel export capability for albums, tracks and compositions, and since I have a lifetime sub I use it all the time to curate my library metadata, both local and from Qobuz. But you may not want the complexity of Roon. I built my own FileMaker Pro database for my music library and use SongKong and Roon to populate it with metadata. SongKong is relatively cheap and would provide all the data you would need - worth a look.

Cheers, Ian

The day I have to go anywhere near an Excel spreadsheet to enjoy my music, I swear I will chuck my Naim boxes in a skip and live in silence for the rest of my life :grimacing:

Are you using windows?
It should be easy to write a bat file to generate a csv file from a directory structure.
A few options in powershell here Use PowerShell to generate a list of files and directories - Stack Overflow

That’s easy for you to say

Download mp3tag.

Open the folder where your music is stored and use the export option, it will create a csv file.

I’s not about enjoying the music. It’s about having a list of what you have so you don’t buy a CD when you already own it.

Thanks, but Mac.

Interesting - will have a look at it. Thanks!

Hadn’t thought of using mp3tag, so giving it a try. Good shout that!

However, with having 41896 tracks on the drive, it is taking a couple of minutes to read all the tags :grinning:

Just one thing to be careful with is the , in a tag check if you have any and use another character if you do.

It went a bit ape with Behind Two Hills,A Swimmingpool from the album Finally We Are No One by Múm

Mp3tag is also available for Mac from the AppStore

Think he knows that.
He was replying to RobertH post asking if he was using Windows and to use a batch file.
