As the old aphorism goes: to finish first, first you must finish!
That came into my mind, too!
Agreed. As race progresses I can concentration levels declining with inevitable consequences.
Iām sure itās entered MVs head that if he finishes second here, then at the next one he wonāt need to moderate his aggression at all - if neither car can continue, then he wins the championship; and thereās nothing the stewards can do about it.
After all, there is a well respected precedent for doing this.
I wonder what the main sponsors would think in that instance.
Like driving fast in a sophisticated machine? Buy a Mercedes car.
Like driving fast like a yob and not caring about anyone else? Drink Red Bull.
We could be here all night.
Past the bad boyās bedtime in factā¦
Didnāt daddy ever tell him that you are supposed to drive on the track?
Very good!!!
It looks like the next starting order will be Ocon - Hamilton - Verstappen.
This is like Rocky 3, incredible tension, come on Lewis
Verstappen needs to be to banned for a season, what an absolute idiot
What a drive Lewis Hamilton , sublime
Ok Max off to bed without any supperā¦.
Will be an interesting stewards meeting about the MV ābrake testā incident
IMHO MV did what he was told to do, slowing down to let LH pass. It was not a case of suddenly hitting the brakes as MV shifted down a few gears. Apparently LH was aware MV was slowing down as the footage shows LH also shifting down a few gears. He may have been confused about what was going on, but I find it difficult to see why him colliding into MVās car was MVās fault. But then again, Iām just a helmsman standing ashore, as an old Dutch saying goes.
I am still trying to compute what just happened. There will be many other commentators who understand F1 much better than me, but I thought the sheepish looks throughout the red bull team after the race said a lot.
If Max was not doing what he has been doing, this year would be as boring as the last eight years. Whoever you follow.
The question is did MV hit the brakes (so called brake testing on LH)
The stewards will need to see the telemetry & I expect them to base their judgement on that.
So you are saying that Lewis ran into him deliberately, rather than just driving past? Because that is the implication of your helmsmanās interpretation. Come on, get real!
@davidhendon my apologies, I probably should have made the meaning of the Dutch saying I alluded to clearer. The saying fully goes as follows: ā The best helmsmen stand ashoreā. This means that those who are not at the helm/wheel etc themselves always seem to know better. So it was meant as a diminutive of my comment as obviously I was not at the helm/wheel but ā ashoreā and could be wrong. And as to my comment itself: no I am not saying he did so on purpose. Why would he? Hamilton is much too professional and level headed to do a thing like that. Iām merely saying that he may simply have misjudged the situation. And whilst sometimes one can justifiably blame someone else, sometimes itās just your bad luck. And the latter of the two was what I meant. I cannot get more real than that, Iām afraid.
