Well it’s a passionate response to what indeed turned out to be Max’s brake test. (We call it “break check” here in the States.) So what’s wrong with that?
Here’s a thought for next year’s cars…
Reinforced front wings & end plates… So that whenever a driver is overtaking a car in front and their front wing touches one of the other car’s tyres, rather than the front wing breaking it cuts through the other car’s tyre. This solves the problem: the overtaking car no longer needs to force the other car off the track!
(Yes this IS sarcasm!)
Ah. Obviously a fan of the Mad Max franchise.
Death Race 2022?
I didn’t think there was any space to attack at that point for Max, you can’t just sling your nose into an area where you know that the car in front will occupy when following the racing line and then claim to be forced off.
Cheating is never good for the game. Even if it means that the championship is ultimately wide open.
Cheating simply devalues the sport.
I think there is a different understanding of “cheating” here.
On what grounds would you say Max cheated?
Going off the track and gaining a position and then giving the position back, get a 5 second penalty for it plus two penalty points on the license sounds pretty far from a successful cheat to me.
Whether successful or not is not the point. Merely cheating with the aim of gaining an advantage is erm, well, cheating. And THAT is not good for the sport.
But of course people can close their eyes to it all and pretend it hasn’t happened, and maybe then it will go away.
In England, we call that, being a Drama Queen.
Gravel traps at each corner once stopped all this, not many left now, so no penalty for going outside the lines, if we had them then the racing would be very different
I do not think MV is dishonest or unfair. He is just unwilling to let LH pass and perhaps a bit reckless. Not cheating at all.
Just a question which is not intended pro or con any particular driver: could it be the case that the track lines are ignored because some venues just have so few spots which allow for a successful overtaking within the track lines? Watching yesterday’s race I got the feeling I was suffering from tunnel vision, just by watching it.
Nice try, but nope.
He is unwilling to let LH pass and cheats when trying to stop him.
In Montecarlo it would be accepted LH was to blame if something similar happened.
Then I remember a rear end incident in Baku with LH and Vettel. Just weird in my opinion, a bit like yesterday’s incident.
Supporting Sir Lewis should not mean insulting MV.
We are talking about whether MV has been cheating. It’s clear that he has. So why are you talking about LH ?
This thread is so biased. Most people here don’t seem to remember Hamilton taking out Max at Silverstone…
I sincerely hope Max wins the championship, but he won’t. You will all be very happy with Hamilton winning it all yet again.
I still don’t consider him the best of all time. He got beat by Rosberg in the same car. There is no way Senna would have lost to Rosberg in the same car. I don’t care if Hamilton wins 15 championships, he will never be in the same league as Senna.
Next year Hamilton won’t have a hack like Bottas as a teammate. He won’t have it so easy with Russell.
And if LH wins, I will thqueam and thqueam and thqueam !
You are imagining that. It never happened. Mad Max just drove himself into an accident as usual.
I think in 5 years time no one will remember MV but they will remember LH, whether or not he wins this year.
Well, I would suggest the ‘bias’ such as it is, is leaning away from the one driver who keeps peeing about this year.
Further, within this and certainly previous years F1 threads there has been plenty of ‘anti’ Lewis sentiment expressed, including a fair bit from myself as he has at times been a bit of a knob, albeit a knob with a good heart I believe. Over this latter part of the season however, it seems clear to me that Lewis is more in the right and Max significantly more in the wrong.
