It is going to be an interesting last 3 races and as the last few races have shown, it is far from over.

Haha, I wonder if Ferrari are ready for the pressure cooker that is Ferrari, they seem to drop the ball on a regular basis and certainly haven’t challenged the way that they would have expected to this season, now only 4th in the standings behind Red Bull who only have one and a bit drivers (
).
Any driver in red relishes the opportunity to beat 11, and next year 12, teams in order to win ![]()
And let’s not forget that he had an additional pitstop because of a puncture. Everyone around him, including those ahead have only done two he’s had three. He would have certainly finished second, but you almost wonder if he could even have won (probably not I think).

I was late to the start and forgot completely that the incident was on the re-start, not the start itself. That changes how the Stewards tend to view such incidents and I have to agree with you; albeit I still think Piastri was stitched up by the circumstances in which he found himself. Arguably naive and of his own making. And I believe he has also picked up two penalty points for his sins!!

It was an amazing race weekend and not necessarily in the way I thought it might pan out.
Redbull really got the cars setup wrong for qualifying and the new engine must have helped too for the race but the suspension changes really made a difference. I did think he would put on a good show this weekend but not in the way he did you have to credit him with such strong will to come back like that.
I thought Piastri might pull his socks up but he is starting to look done for, in both in his TV interviews and driving on the track. He must dig deep now and find the kind of grit that Max has. An up hill task now. I do think he was a little hard done by the 10 sec penalty but it was highly optimistic manoeuvre and he was not fully alongside. Perhaps a sign of his desperation to mitigate a poor qualifying position.
When he was 30 odd points ahead I did not think the turn around of Norris was likely at all. Norris has been the one to dig deep and find a new level of performance. His ability to master the Interlagos track in all sessions was impressive.
I still think Max will have influence on the outcome he did this weekend he looks like he will come between the McLaren pair in the remaining races or indeed beat them both at some GPs. It could still be a matter of who he takes more points from.
With 3 races to go a lot still can happen it is not yet a foregone conclusion who will be champion and that is the exciting bit.
I do wonder if we have seen the last of McLaren cars coming together this year, I somehow feel that Lando and Oscar may manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and hand a fifth championship to Max, he’s only 49 points off the lead. A Lando / Oscar DNF in Vegas combining with a Max victory could make the McLaren boys a bit twitchy for the last two races. The way this season is panning out I just feel that we haven’t seen the end of the drama just yet.
And a sprint…
Nothing is impossible with Max in the mix for sure and what makes the remaining races an exciting prospect.
The last two GP have seen Norris rise in confidence and performance if he can keep that going he just needs to be ahead of Piastri to win the championship, even if max wins the remaining races Norris is still the winne,r assuming both McLarens are placed high in the order.
In a scenario where Max wins all remaining races Piastri is 2nd and 3rd Norris wins even if Norris is 3rd each time. The points are in Norris’ favour now but it only takes a non-finish in a GP throw a spanner in the works.
Just a DNF is not enough though, even if Verstappen wins everything. And not for 2nd place either, he needs to beat both. So as much as I’d like to, I honestly don’t see it happening. But with him charging we might be in for some exciting races and a last race decider, especially if there’s indeed a bit of twitching by the McLaren drivers. I can well see him come 2nd in the championship.
Yes at a minimum he will be getting between the McLarens at times which will influence heavily who wins.
It is hard for Max to win the championship even if he wins all GP and sprint races he ends up with 424 points. That means Norris just needs 35 points to win the championship, Piastri would need 59 points which is not possible.
But we have had many turns of fortune so far so we will have to wait and see what actually happens.
Oh I know that Max needs more than one DNF but you only need a double DNF in Vegas and a Max win to give McLaren squeaky bum time, there 83 points available to Max but I agree he does need a helping hand in the form of a McLaren implosion.
But look at Austin in the sprint both McLarens out, Ferrari in Brazil, it can happen, and yes it could be Max with a DNF.
This brings to mind a quote from the great Muhammad Ali.

I tend to agree but let’s hope it goes to the last race just to keep everyone interested.
I recall many years back a certain championship contender had a slight ‘steering malfunction’ which coincidentally took his competitor out! Some say history has a habit of repeating itself……

That would be Lewis taking Max out at Silverstone……

Piastri’s loss of form clarified:
“Australian burger chain Grill’d has apologised for ‘cursing’ Oscar Piastri with a promotional offer that has coincided with the McLaren driver’s recent loss of form.
After Piastri went 34 points clear at the top of the Drivers’ Championship by winning the Dutch Grand Prix in late August, Grill’d launched a promotion that would give customers a free ‘Oscar Piastri 81 Burger’ whenever the Australian claimed a podium.
The promotion officially began the day after Piastri’s third-placed finish at the Italian Grand Prix.
However, in the five races since, Piastri has failed to finish on the podium and has seen his 34-point lead over Norris turn into a 24-point deficit with three rounds remaining. “ Sky Sports.
