Sorry, and probably the Denon as well

I think the Denon would appeal to Lars wife, but a DJ style Technics would definitely appeal to his kids. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Here’s the VTA adjust on the Technics, very quick and easy. Just a flip lock to release it, and turn the large dial.

Definitely of the order of 10s or so.

I’ve seen very very well used Regas and Technics decks in record stores over the years. I suspect either would be well up to regular use in a family home. The Denon looks just as robust. Buying a deck with removable headshell would mean the inevitable mishaps are quickly fixed.

Buy a slipmat as well as a DJ stylus and you might even start some them off on a mixing career  Be a great origin story, ā€œYeah, I started with a single turntable feeding a Naim 500 system, scratching with my parents’ first press Beatles recordings, and pretty much went from thereā€¦ā€ 8)

Only a small number of the current SL-1200G/R users are mixing though. Probably 95% of us just bought them because they are very good refined sounding decks and ignore the pitch sliders altogether.

I just thought a simple automatic solution was the way to go.

I gave up on vinyl a long time ago. I have never upgraded my Project turntable, as I have gone digital. so I cannot suggest specific turntables.

I’m sure, was mostly just joking around with that

But as a kid I definitely remember enjoying messing with my parents’ TT, trying scratching, badly, with some of my house/trance/techno stuff. It was fun, and would have been more so with an appropriate stylus and mat. So mostly joking, but not completely 8)

A 1500 simpler and almost identical in it’s basics.

Indeed, but for kids (and sometimes for myself) the illuminated speed control strobe is like magic…especially if one is somewhat in the spectrum.

When you have a such a lovely family that“s tired of streaming with the ND555,take the opportunity and treat them with a really good turntable :victory_hand:

 hopefully

I have often thought how fantastic it would have been, having had an Linn LP12 from early age,not having to go through Direct drives and Rega’s on the way…

It’s each to their own really. I’m glad to have gotten rid of my LP12. I loved my Rega P3 and wish I still had it. So grateful for my current Technics and it direct drive stability and unbelievable build quality.

Hi @registlse

Did you upgrade from p3 to p6, both with nd7?

Hi,

I started with ND5 on both then moved to ND7 on the P6.

Hi @registlse

When you had both on Nd5, did you notice major improvement?

Yes, with the nd5 the P6 was better in every way than the P3 with the neo psu… I can mention more refinement, fluidity and bandwidth. With the nd7 it’s even a notch above and it makes for an excellent tt.
