I love this map, with all the traditional names. Fantastic.
It’s a stunning map and took quite a while to fine one I liked in perfect condition. It’s the texture and rich print of an original that needs to be appreciated in real life.
I thought I wrote a post about this map and a quick search brought these posts up. Can’t believe it was 5 years ago.

Eventually decided on the frame moulding. Wanted it to look old, but not appear to be at home in a castle. I had many ideas, but settled on this warm, wide, yet delicate moulding. I think it looks great, but might dislike it in 10 years time. Who knows.
This was the first frame I’ve made from scratch using V-nails that professional framers’ use. Initially, I was put off the idea as apparently the machinery is expensive. However, I took a chance on a small hand-…
I’ve learnt a lot about conservation over the past few weeks. To sum up, unless every single part of the framing is of conservation/museum standard (which in pure materials, doesn’t cost that much more than bog-standard stuff), your art will be rapidly deteriorating. This can easily happen within 2-3 years. It’s been a bit depressing opening framed art and seeing some of the damage. If there has been obvious damage, the backing board or rear mount has caused the biggest damage and unfortunately …
