Strange, yes. But very personal and moving in lots of ways. And I did indeed let my cheek ‘slide down the cool, smooth tile’ in the tiny bathroom!
When we arrived at the Motel, I noticed they’d recently been done for allowing prostitution on the premises (the place wasn’t exactly classy). I think Jim would have liked that. Interestingly, in 1981 the room price for 32 was about $15 a night (I booked three). No fanfare, no hint that Jim Morrison had lived there then. Kinda cool.
