Indeed, Naim have been pretty open regarding outsourcing boards and components, eg CD drive mechs and SM technology boards as used in NC kit, others much less so. As the demise of Naim CD players illustrates, if customer demand falls away and/or the outsourcing manufacturer ceases production or indeed ceases to exist, it’s pretty much curtains for any product reliant on their output.
For all the hype regarding Linn’s current modularity and future proofing, their history appears to be one of discontinued products and an ‘offer’ to upgrade to current kit at a bit of a discount - a bit tricky for CD aficionados with no internet acces for streaming .
But you can’t have what’s not made and second guessing the future only pays out to the manufacturer.
If I recall correctly, there was not inconsiderable panic among the digital streaming folk when the demise of one of the audiophile streaming providers was rumoured, incorrectly as it transpired .
Yes indeed i have an LP12 that continues to give stellar performance longevity seeming this is the only product.
With dealer support too.
I’ve been burned by a linn so many times that nothing other than the upkeep of my deck is of any interest.
I’ve got a reasonable Lp & Cd collection and have no intention to go down the not knowing what I’m getting or where it’s from arrangement.
It seems now with the demise of old Classic Naim and CDP they might be in the same position for me.
Time will tell.

Might have to start a new thread longevity of products.
Sorry for drift folks.
“ In geometry, the Banach-Tarski paradox is a theorem, demonstrated in 1924 by Stefan Banach and Alfred Tarski, which states that it is possible to cut a ball of space into a finite number of pieces without volume and to assemble these pieces to form two distinct balls of the same volume. These fragments are therefore non-measurable. They cannot be explained. They are immaterial. We can theoretically use these pieces to form a “larger” object without having to say that this object and the starting ball have the same volume since the volume of the result is not the sum of the volumes of the pieces. This is reminiscent of the miracle of the multiplication of loaves. The Banach Tarski paradox also makes it possible to prove that there is no universal measure”
This is ‘old’ physics, pre dates modern quantum mechanics and does not take into account the Plank constant for space. There is no such thing as a length lower than the Plank constant.
Indeed it is. I always took it as an example of where logical analysis diverges from the genuine pursuit of empiricism, a reductio ad absurdity if you will.
I was joking.
If you doubt about my posts being serious or jokes, maybe it’s because you are too much Cartesian . IB has a similar problem. In other circumstances it can be an advantage of course.
Oh well, c’est la vie
For a philosopher, Descartes managed to make one of the more stupid statements: ‘I think, therefore I am’…you cannot presume the existence of ‘I’ to prove the existence of I.

Don’t want to start a new topic; so let me try it this way … does anyone have experience with the Rega Couple 2 and Couple 3 interconnect cables? I wonder if there is a (big) difference between these two, especially given the fact that the Couple 2 can be found very cheap on the internet. Might use this one between my Rega Fono MC and the Uniti Nova …
