And so I finally took the plunge. I was looking for a used FACT8 for my NAP500/NAC552 combo, and then I found a good offer in the Netherlands for a used but perfect looking FACT12 , so I have gone for them. I should get them over the next 2-3 days and I am looking forward. They have been a thought of mine for many years. Finger crossed, I will be satisfied at last.
They are very nice speakers, albeit rather expensive……..i almost did buy, but the price was too steep new.
I bought Fact 12s as part of my previous full-DR 500 system, they sounded fabulous. Alas, circumstances required that I had to downsize to a Nova, but I could not bring myself to part with the Fact 12s. The Nova cannot recreate the 500 system’s magic with these speakers, but they still sound good. Spend some time positioning them in your room for the best results. Enjoy them!
In fact! I got them only because they were reasonably priced. They are old but hopefully the units are integral.
A friend has Fact 8’s bi-amped with 4 135’s. He loves them.
I think they had a 20 year warranty in the u.k so they must be pretty confident of their robustness. I did have a pair of 25.26 and had what seemed like a faulty drive unit, dealer received a new one overnight. Fitted quickly, but turned out to be a faulty connection on the crossover, which the dealer did in my house. So, you should be OK.
I did ask the seller studio if in the event of problems they would ask PMC for replacement parts, as they don’t deal directly with end users. They said they would offer this service, but me being in Italy and them in the Netherlands make me a bit edgy.
There is no way I would ever have bought the Fact 8, but the 12 is another matter. Having heard a couple of times I recognise that they are room and placement dependent, but my feeling was that if ever I had to have small speakers the F12 would be my choice!
I’m glad your other thread led to this!
