Hi all, I assume there’ll be no problem updating the new firmware on a UnitiQute 2 via the USB-C port on a MacBook Air running iOS 12.7?
So using either:
a USB C to mini USB B cable, or
via an adapter allowing use of a USB A to mini USB B cable.
Just want to double check, as the Naim guide only mentions the use of a “fully wired USB A to mini USB B cable”, and I really really do not want to brick my Unitiqute…
For my uniti2 update yesterday via a macbook Air, I just used a simple adaptor from USB C to USB A and then a cable from USB A to mini USB. Worked just fine. Though the update overall took at least 40 minutes. The new radio is pretty sluggish and may take tens of seconds to connect to a new station, even if it’s already pre-set. But once it’s up and working it’s just fine. And it’s a bit of a bonus to keep the radio going after more than a dozen years! Well done Naim.
Updated my UQ2 here without issue using an iMac, with both connected via ethernet.
Subsequently I attempted to update my SU, which was wired and I changed the iMac to wifi (for convenience after moving location) - definitely connected.
However the iMac failed to start the SU update. Simply reverting to wiring both iMac and SU, update completed without issue.
So if you have any problem with MBkA on wifi, that may help; ymmv.
The bit about the 9 pin rs232 and usb a to mini usb cable was word for word in version 4.4 in 2015 - there is a lot of copy paste from each version to the next.
The new version doesn’t mention windows xp though!
