Flapjack and cappuccino!

I need new wheels for my Moots ‘winter’ bike.

Rim brakes and grit have worn them down alarmingly. Tune hubs feel perfect though. They were handbuilts, and will be again.

Of my 4 road bikes only one has discs. Old Skool.

I managed to accumulate so many spare sets of wheels that I’m really going to struggle with the idea of switching to discs. A failure of my frame might be the only compelling reason for doing so. There is something slightly reassuring about rim brakes insofar as if they ever go out of alignment when out on a ride, it’s easy to adjust. Disc brakes are unknown to me in this respect. Probably groundless, but there you go! Indeed my commuter bike has discs and hasn’t given any problems other than wearing out unbeknownst to me…

Discs on my MTB, no question. Good rim brakes on dry rims (even carbon) are close to the performance of the disc roadbike, but not when it is wet. I wouldn’t change my older bikes for modern disc equipped models purely on that basis though.

Incidentally once set up (which is pretty simple) hydraulic disc brakes don’t need adjusting during use
Only a pad change when worn out; infrequent on a road bike

For those doing this weekends Dunwich Dynamo the Dunwich Ship at the finish will be serving breakfast baps from 2am and Fish & Chips from 4am. Or, a mid stop refuel if riding back to the start in London!

80k to Cayeux, with an absolutely massive polka dot jersey winning 142metres of climbing. Oh the gradient :joy:

Staying in an under average apartment. But with a top dollar view

Last day. Along the coast to Dieppe. Short ride (55km) but 3 punchy climbs and a headwind all the way.

Celebratory beer stop in Dieppe, and provisions for the boat ride home

Did 37 mile gravel ride around Dalby and the Hole of Horcum yesterday. Fun but tiring!

Nice.

I had a good ride out with a mate from York into the Wolds on Weds. 50miles. Cafe in a busy Pocklington. Looks like summer is back again for a week or so according to the forecast.

Looks like you had a great time.
I don’t know why but Northern France seems to have headwinds whichever direction your going !

Yes. Though I think my Garmin “best 40k” was going west to east on “Avenue du Lin”. A nice tailwind that day!

Have also done Dieppe to Paris with headwind the whole way. That wasn’t fun :joy::joy:

First ride for me on this thing. It is a Ventana I bought for nok5000 a few months ago. Michael Cook was pilot. He was chatting the way down the flow trail here in Drammen Bike Park. A was afraid. But it was cool.

I rode this on my trail bike. A lot of chunky stuff like this. Almost too technical. But this is a black trail it is supposed to be hard on a DH bike.

A nice 140k loop around Sussex today. Sea views , countryside views, plus Lewes and Brighton. Very hot !

At Birling Gap were the Penny Farthing hill climb World Championships! They’d unfortunately finished when I got there. But a peculiar sight of men with Massive Thighs and with bikes with Massive Wheels. Penny Farthing championship comes to Eastbourne's Beachy Head - BBC News

Birling Gap and Belle Toute lighthouse. Beautiful in the sun!

Followed by people in the river at Lewes looking like they need some boating lessons :upside_down_face:

Followed by a bit of countryside.
