I always use miles because I âseeâ in miles/MPH. I always convert Centigrade back to Fahrenheit for the same reason. Decimal currency is fine although I regularly shout, blumminâ heck thatâs X pounds in old money. Converting the price per litre of petrol to the price per gallon leaves me needing a lie down.
Anders Celsius died in 1744 at age 42.
However if his rival Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit was still alive at the time he would have argued Celsius died at 108.
Iâm agnostic tbh. Tend to work in miles/feet in UK and km/m in EuropeâŚ..
108k and 2800m today. Need a rest tmrw! ![]()
Tmrw - tyres must rest weekly?
A year with my Trek Dual Sport +2 e-bike and just over 1,600 miles on the clock. A game changer for me.
Over a month with a tubeless tyres set-up and all going well. Well up until Sunday when I had a flint puncture (middle of the tyre) which the internal sealant wouldnât seal. I was well rehersed from youtube clips on how to use bacon strips. That with the electic pump got me the 5 miles home - and the tyre is still inflated.
Iâm taking the back wheel off to replace the cassette and chain and Iâll do an internal repair with these at the same time.
Did Ronde van Vlaanderen sportive today. Only 133k version (I was out-voted on the 166) but still pretty challenging - great fun ![]()

I have started riding again after dislocating my left knee seven weeks ago. Without pain. Very nice.
Welcome back! ![]()
73k today. My best of the year to date. It may be my last as well ![]()
77k today. Rest day tmrw before travelling to Scotland to ride Gralloch trails over the weekend ![]()
Back from 3 days of gravel riding in Scotland. 240k and 4000m of off-road climbing. My legs are now toast! ![]()
Nice. Gravel bike on a gravel track. Scotland and N Wales are perhaps the ideal places.
I pulled my back a month ago and I am only just back on the bike, managing 20-30 miles at a time and that is stopping every 20mins for a stretch!
Zimmer on order.

Yesterday whilst riding the usual local 20m hilly course, after the first couple of miles a well rounded oldie guy on an E-bike caught me on a short but 20% incline, i was struggling at 9mph but he went past far too quick for me to slipstream, then i noticed he wasnât even peddling⌠that really takes the percentage! ![]()
Why donât the Police confiscate obviously hacked e-bikes?? ![]()

I see it all the time @Debs with any food delivery riders were I live and probably all over the country.Maybe I am a bit old school but these bikes with a throttle are nothing more than a electric motorbikes and have nothing at all to do with cycling IMHO.
I think normal electric bikes were you actually peddle are a nice compromise for people and gets them out cycling.Years ago I cycled home with a mate who was on his new E bike and we went up a really steep hill and I led the way and rode at a sitting down climbing tempo and the last 100 m was tough. We got to the top and my mate wasnât even sweating âŚno signs of any exertion at all.Not down on speed limited E bikes at all and if you can get on a bike rather than your car if you are local. Its great for the environment but these food delivery goons on their throttle bikes going at over 30 mph ..its just not cycling in any shape or form.
Seeing @Svetty pics of Scotland up threadâŚthatâs cyclingâŚloved your pics..raw nature and exertion and friendship.
Indeed what you describe are not e-bikes, but defined as mopeds or scooters in the UK. They must be taxed and registered with the DVLA, and have number plates to be used on public roads. They must have at least 3rd party insurance. They may not be ridden off-road or on cycle lanes, and the rider must wear an approved motorcycle helmet.
E-bikes (strictly speaking EAPCs, electric-assisted pedal cycles) must be limited to 15.5mph, 250w and less than 40kg. They must be pedal assisted, so not able to be ridden without rider input.
Very many electric motorbikes seem to be hacked e-bikes. There is a wealth of information on-line detailing how to de-restrict e-bikesâŚ![]()
