Downscaling shouldn’t really hurt sound quality on its own. Sure, it might annoy some purists, but not having to run a cable across the room sounds pretty appealing to me.

It doesn’t bother me neither. I have no files more than 24/96, apart some DSD which sounds better on 16/44 .

Seems unlikely. I reckon we’re already seeing box counts reduce as well as the number of systems with multiple stacks and so on. But I guess there’ll always be some enthusiasts who want multiple boxes and, I suspect, firms to supply them. I think Naim are being very smart covering both sectors of the market whilst maintaining their reputation for SQ (I hope).

RE: Active speaker platform only
The streaming platform used in Diva is our latest generation and has also featured in the recently launched Naim CI102 room player. iMX8 Quad Core 1.8GHz, with a big SHARC DSP thrown on the end now running in a mix of 40 and 64bit audio processing. We also moved to gigabit ethernet and wifi6 MIMO in this platform.
It will be appearing in many a future product. 
Unlike most manufacturers, we have ensured code wise that it’s multi-platform and we handle all the inner differences, so the 3 different chipsets used over 10years automatically get a code build from the same source code.

I wonder how the Naim dealers feel about this type of product? The time served easy step by step upgradability is surely lost. Very room aesthetic friendly though.

Exclusive to FPBN stores, I think. I can see it being used as a bit of a carrot to persuade the likes of Sevenoaks to dedicate in store space to the brands. I’d imagine those guys want something in this category but much much more accessible in terms of price though.
Indeed, I think Naim now earn most of their profit through their lifestyle products. Concentrating on this area will keep the company going, but hopefully, enough to support their original products.

For me Naim amplifiers with Focal loudspeakers a mismatch, sounding far too analytical and non-coherent to my taste.
Prices are also extremely over the roof.
Luckily I don’t like their looks either, can’t afford them - so happy end here.

That is misleading.
I think they will be ok with these speakers, a number are also Linn dealers who have recently launched their new active speaker, Linn Exakt 360 Integrated, for a cool £87,500 !
Fair enough. I’ve just bought a 19 year old pair of Naim speakers fed active from loads of Naim boxes and last night the sound was as enjoyable as anything I’ve experienced. I’m probably being influenced by that, stuck in a time warp moment and don’t want the traditional Naim to fade away
