I loaded Focal-Naim app on Fiio M21. It cannot find my Focal headphones. I tried all suggestions. Works fine on my IPhone
Just tried it with my JM21. I can make the Bluetooth connection, but it doesn’t show up in the app.
I submitted a problem report to Focal support. I fear this may not be high on their list.
Until now, I’ve lived in an iOS universe, so there may be something Androidian that I’m overlooking. Does anyone know what version(s) of Android are required for the Focal Naim app?
I played with permissions and started working. Maybe coincident.
I’m using Apple Music. Plugging in headphone the built in equalizer doesn’t work. Nor does focal app.
Sound is better than iPhone 16
Was a coincidence. Tried again NG
The Focal app doesn’t work when I use the USB connection from my iPhone to the Bathys. I don’t think it’s supposed to. Or maybe you know that.
If the Focal Naim app doesn’t work, I could be satisfied with a third party Android equalizer. Any suggestions on which one to get?
It was usb-c. Now not finding.
Yes the app equalizer doesn’t work when using headphone DAP
I used to have the m23, open the FiiO control app should have an equaliser icon,
Need to Toggle it to on for equaliser to work,
Hope this helps
From what I’ve read the Fiio equalizer does not work with Bluetooth phones - only cable connected phones.
Ok, can’t see why not tho,
Only time my equaliser would not work was in pure DAC mode,
But then again I did not use Bluetooth headphones, connected it straight to my pre amp or used my Apple headphones,
I heard back from Focal - basically with a troubleshooting guide. The e-mail is rather long, but I’ll post the head points:
Possible Causes & Solutions
-
Incompatible Device or OS Version
-
Headphones Not in App-Ready Mode
-
Permissions Not Granted
-
Bluetooth LE Not Supported or Enabled
-
Outdated App or Firmware
I can post greater detail as requested. I did note that on my unit location was not permitted for the Focal app and switched that on. (I thought I had done that before, but as I say, I’m new to Android, so I might have screwed it up.)
Anyway, my Bathys now appear in the Focal/Naim app, but when I select them the wait wheel just spins.
That’s the bad news - now the good news - the built-in equalizer on my JM21 does work with my Bathys headphones - and with more bands. As that was the only feature I used in the Focal app (aside from an occasional glance at the battery meter), I’m not going to play around with this any longer.
@GrumpyOLDvinylJUNKY - score one for you over the other poster I read.
