Neither would be in my top 50 options.
But it would all be down to a home demo.
Come on guys, where are all the SBL, IBL and DBL fans!
Why would anyone limit themselves to one manufacturer, ie. Focal? I would certainly give them an audition but also listen to as many others as possible before choosing a winner.
No question: Sonus Faber Electa Amator iii
I loved my SL2s - extraordinary speakers. And also love the absolutely unique DBLs. That said, I also love my Shahinian Diapasons, which are much more room friendly than the DBLs and do their special thing with classical and jazz.
I’m not mad about Focal speakers, though I think their more recent ones have improved and do like their headphones very much (own two pairs - Stellia and Utopia)
I am a happy owner!
Here, with twice SBL, twice S400, 7 times nSats, once Ariva, once IBL.
Of the EA3s? Please do tell me more!
Errr what about the wonderful NBL’s?
here sir here

Oh yes! I have had them for 18 months. I have had a good number of speakers: Totem, Harbeth etc. These are by far the best. An end game speaker for me.
Very nice. I am going to listen to them at a dealers on Monday. It is a grave mistake as I cannot afford them! I have been a SF for many decades, having had the EA 1 & 2 . Have the Olympica 1 now.
Thank you. Let us know what you think of them after your audition.
Simply beautiful.
Can I ask what size room are they in?
What genres of music do you generally listen to on them?
Many thanks.
I have them in a 10 x 15 feet room. I listen to a lot of different genres. They shine with all of the music I play through them (Jazz, rock, etc). Female singers are especially beautiful through them.
Lovely speakers. Glad you enjoy them.
B&W 707 S3 for me, with Naim Nova
Happy owner here of Classic Linn speaker Sara Isobarik. Not quite original as they were rebuilt 9 years ago and the crossovers are now external. An extraordinary loudspeaker that defies it’s size. Also I’m the proud owner of a pair of MK1 Kans. If I had to replace with new I would probably look at ATC or Proac.
