I love watching Leeds now. There was a time (basically, always until now) when I would never have said that. I first saw them in November 1966 at Highbury when I were a lad. Leeds won 1-0.
Forget about the result. Watch the performance. That could have been 6.
I’ll always take a point against Citeh. Stunning goal from Mich.
Pleasantly surprised at my lot’s performance away to the Black Cats this afternoon. With them being undefeated and having conceded only one goal so far, and Pompey’s very indifferent start, I was expecting a defeat. So a 3-1 win was very pleasing. Having watched it on iFollow (a pretty rubbish TV service but better than watching text comentary!), I have to say the win was thoroughly deserved. PUP
They seem to have upped their game recently after a really poor start. They hardly ever seem to come off well against Sunderland, so hopefully it will give them a confidence boost. I don’t know what’s happened to Curtis lately, he’s gone from being a bit of a star to someone who seems to be struggling. Strange.
Completely agree. And worryingly, the guy he came for, Jacobs, looks like he’ll be out for a while.
You have to hand it to Bielsa and the players who coped with a completely reshaped back four and Klich slotting back into the Phillips role after 20 minutes. That seamless change, the new additions and a much stronger bench than last year gives me a lot of hope for the season.
Heady days indeed!
There’s no doubting that the best signing of the last three years has been Marcelo Bielsa.
Regardless of our new signings, who do, in fact, look very promising, he is the one who has made the difference.
MOT.
I’m not going to get on Mikel Arteta’s case because I believe he is the right man to take us forward but his inexperience again showed up last night because of his formations.
Last week we had Willian as a false No 9 and this week he played three midfielders which seemed to suck the life out of all three of them and Thomas Partey who had the best debut in an Arsenal shirt on Thursday night that I’ve seen for 30 years looked absent.
What a pleasure to read Henry Winter’s match report of Saints’ 2-0 win over Everton in today’s Times. I see it as a sign that Saints are being taken seriously. Normally when we have this sort of win, it’s all about how the ‘big’ side had a poor day at the office
Roll on Villa next weekend.
I work with a Leeds fan and before the start of the season was berating Bamford, now I hadn’t seen much of him and started to watch at the beginning of the season and told him that he looks like a player who will appreciate the difference in the prem. So far he looks to have found his level, got some game intelligence and reminds me a bit of Sheringham in his appreciate of space and time, should have a good season.
At the risk of boring all non-Leeds fans, and on a lighter note … overheard during the Villa - Leeds game:
Grealish to Ref: “Ref, can we have a new ball please?”
Ref to Grealish: “What’s wrong with the one you’ve got?”
Grealish to Ref: “Well, Leeds are playing with that one.”
Shamelessly copied from elsewhere.
M.O.T.
He’s scored tonight though! I bet he’s hugely relieved. Four nil too.

Yes, @anon4489532. Curtis looked off the pace in the first half but played much better in the second and scored a good goal. Pompey are now top scorers in League One, which is rather curious given how toothless we looked in the first few games.
Very unlucky not to get anything at Anfield. That was a rather soft penalty…
Well played the Irons. The pen was a wee bit soft, but that disallowed goal call was also marginal, no? Anyway, your prospects for the season are not as bleak as they looked a few weeks back - and it would be a fool who wrote Liverpool off just yet.
Disallowed off side? I thought it was for a foul on Fabianski.
For me Fabianski never seemed troubled by the Mane challenge, not hurt and it did not affect his reactions to try to save the shot from Diogo…not a foul in my book.
I think a Liverpool win was a fair result, but sometimes Liverpool are really frustrating to watch. You see why they needed a Thiago Alcantara. They are becoming the ticki tacky of the prem…bring back ‘heavy metal’ football.
Actually, seems the foul was on Ogbonna not Fabianski???
Apparently Mane’s trailing leg fouled Ogbonna as they both went for the ball.
Southampton doing the business on the Villa. This is turning out to be a good weekend for the Reds despite not playing well.
Spud in peace…
The penalty was WAY soft. But worse than that was the reaction of Salah, throwing himself to the ground like a drama queen in a B movie. It was so embarrassing - he should be ashamed of himself.
Your boys will be OK this season.
