Football season 2022 - 2023

@dave-marshall – What do you make of Hippo Head?

Yeh, he’s a bit cocky at the moment, isn’t he.

It will end in tears, as you know. Then it will be ‘plucky Arsenal, the Gunner’s young guns are such hero’s, so close, next season is ours’ crap…

And a fan of a team with regular Thursday night Euro history really shouldn’t be commenting on European qualification…

Sorry, no time. tomorrow…

A few pearls of wisdom from a certain Cocky Spuds fan basking in the glory of participating in the CL.

"They never learn.

On the last day of the season, they will watch their team bottle it and slip out of the top four - as usual. As sure as eggs is eggs."

“The followers of the lower class gutter fodder in the Wheeltapper’s and Shunter’s leagues must be spitting out bile…”

“Not many comments tonight. Then again not many fans here are aware of Tuesday/Wednesday night football…”

"Sorry, I forgot, most of you forum boys are Thursday night dominoes league guys…

Maybe we will hear you bleat tomorrow.

Apologies to fellow Tuesday/Wednesday night team fans…"

"Better to be scrambling in the Champions League than being in the Wheeltappers Dominoes League.

Who are you up against tonight ? The Rose and Crown from Batley ?"

Exactly !!!

you.ve been in the Wheeltappers and Shunters League for many years now, and you suddenly start giving it big…

So sad.

100%

You can change your career, spouse, religion and these days even your gender but a proper footie fan never changes their club!

If you call 5 years many but if you want to start looking backwards WW I can do that all night long where should we start with Trophies perhaps? Actually that’s not fair but we could look back at the Champions League qualification you love so much I think out of the past 25 years you qualified 5 or 6 times whilst we have qualified 20, between 1998 and 2017 we played in 19 consecutive Champions Leagues a record amount by any British team and only bettered by Real Madrid.

The word coming out of Elland Road is that Big Sam is a much shrewder cookie than the meedya would have us believe.

He’s breezed in and immediately put smiles on faces, always a good start in dealing with players low on confidence.

As a short term fix, he’s probably exactly what is needed, but I reckon he should have replaced Marsch, rather than having been parachuted in with just four games remaining.

M.O.T.

So let me get this straight last season you Spud’s supporters and rightly so banter us mercilessly for beating us by one point into fourth spot although still bantering at Christmas was a bit Spursy and now you’re bantering us for finishing 2nd when you will probably end up in 7th, 8th almost 30 points behind us how does that work?

Glad they did

Meanwhile, back to today’s football.

What a great improvised goal by Gundogan!

He still needs to work on his celebratory knee slide though.

Yesterday, Kev ?
Well, gotta admit it wasn’t one of our finest hours.
The word ‘ineffective’ comes to mind. No creativity in midfield and the usual brainf@rts in defence. Plus Sonny not quite understanding the offside rules - could anyone translate them into Korean for him ?

Ah well, never mind. We will go in one of two directions from here.

We will employ a new exciting, forward thinking manager and then Levy doesn’t give him any of the promised pocket money for players.

Or we will employ a boring, mid-table level manager and then Levy won’t feel the need to give him any money for players.

The end result will be the same !

Congratulations to Chelsea winning the Women’s FA Cup 1-0 against Manchester United.

A nicely taken goal by Sam Kerr, but what a goal celebration!

That was a Masterclass.

Too bad that Arsenal chose this week rather than last week to play Brighton.
