Football Season 2023/24

Have just watched the EFL highlights programme from yesterday. Not seen the last 4 as we’d emptied the living room in order to rebuild the ceiling.

You scored 2 goals from corners @JohnF. For both corners Barnes occupies 3 players. At the 2nd corner he can be clearly seen shoving a Plymouth player into another whilst blocking another. It unequivocally makes the space for the goal scorer.

Having seen it on a 50” screen with my TV glasses on I’m almost convinced our penalty was a penalty. Can now see that Bolton’s knee was caught. Can’t see how the ref could tell Clough he was 100% it was in the area though.

Still amusing to see the penalty though. You won’t see a harder strike this season from the spot.

For the first corner Barnes is at the back well out of the action. The player effecting play is Sorensen who moves diagonally in front of the Plymouth defenders leaving space for Sargent.
For the second corner Barnes is on the line doing little to effect play after McCallum headed on from the near post. It was a case of Phillips misdirecting his clearance. He should have headed the ball back in the direction it came from.

Don’t have a good feeling about today’s game and I find it harder to watch Norwich on tv than in the ground. May spend the afternoon in the greenhouse.

My offspring believes that if he’s not at a match and can’t access a live stream then listening to us on the radio curses us to defeat every time. He’s mostly been right so I understand the need to evade/avoid occasionally.

It seems unlikely Mansfield will stutter against Accrington or that Notts County will remember what winning looks like against MK Dons. Hard also to see a very good Wimbledon team getting anything from a resurgent Stockport so I’ve kind of written today off and won’t be lookimg at results until tonight.

Tomorrpw night we take on a Donny team who are the form team in the division. I’ve still not abandoned hope of finding a way home but I suspect it’ll be the live stream for me and possibly a tough night.

Norwich might have fared better if they’d tried to win the game from the off rather than trying to stop Foxes winning. Only picked up at 2:1 down.

We’ve hired a dead ball specialist coach now we need similar for defence and attack.
Very disappointing result. My wife tells me they were never in it, I’d left for the greenhouse after we scored.

Hopefully you were saving yourself for Ipswich.

I hope it’s a better performance as I’m taking the grandson.

Hope it’s the kind of game which entices him back :+1:

Thanks, I’m sure he will as his father and other grandparents are Norwich fans.
Last time I took him was the home defeat to Blackburn when he stated his u9 team passed the ball quicker!

My understanding is that you have a seat in the playoffs (or thereabouts) and yet there is misery in your post!

Edit: Okay, I have just seen your result but the point still stands!

Well, Cardiff have done us a favour but, whilst it is looking probable we will make the playoffs, I can’t say the idea of reaching the EPL again is exciting me at present. We may suffer even greater humiliation than on the past two occasions. I doubt it would encourage our American friends to get their cheque books out even if we were to make it.

Frankly, I can’t see us winning the playoffs based on todays disappointing & poor performance against top six opposition that aren’t exactly firing on all cylinders themselves.

I know what you mean but Norwich never do the easy thing.
If we do go up with our defence and debt it will be far more embarrassing than last time. On the other hand we desperately need the money.
Fortunately the Coventry and Preston results have gone our way today. Now we need Leeds to beat Hull. I’m sure Daniel won’t let us down!

Hellfire QPR I’m starting to believe it might, just, be okay.

My mate John is a long standing season ticket holder and he thinks Marti has the fans and the players onside. If yiu survuve this season, as seems increasingly likely, he predicts a much better season next time around.

Yeah my cousins went on Saturday and said it was an absolute blast!

Imossible to predict scores and outcomes at this point. It’s all wonderfully/horribly unpredictable.

Yet another bonkers but massively entertaining game at Portman Road. Outplayed for 60 minutes, Southampton played through and around us pretty much at will. Tightened midfield pressed high, good subs, moved players into their optimal positions and deserved the run of the ball.

We’re good going forward but cr@p defending, and “game management” is a foreign concept.

If by some chance we get promotion via the play-offs, then next season we’ll most likely set a record for most goals conceded!

Well, The Mighty Whites somehow contrived to win against a well organised Hull side, who certainly deserved better from this game.

We move into second place, though Leicester in third have a game in hand, so the play offs still beckon, and historically, our record is poor.

Still, what about that Dan James goal?

Belter! :soccer:
