Football Season 2024/25

Unfortunately the owners lack ambition and sell a player once his value has gone up (Neto and Killman in the summer). You cannot build a decent team and move forwards if you keep selling your best players, just to bring in lesser talent. The chairman said in the summer that if you want to support a club that will regularly win trophies then maybe Wolves is not the club for you; that says it all. This mentality is feeding down the line to Gary and even the players.

When Saints were last in the Prem, I heard our then CEO describe Wolves as ā€˜fantastically rich but our research says that the money is well hiddenā€™ā€¦

As an outsider itā€™s obviously difficult to say if this is true but if it is, then it points to why you may be selling talented players now. Saints are similar if it is any consolation, perhaps with a similar business model.

Probably payback for all the diabolical decisions that went against us in the first season of VAR, including a man being sent of against us & brought back on 5 minutes later because VAR thought the refs decision was wrong.

I have never seen that happen before.

I know how it feels as Norwich had the same approach under Delia. Iā€™m hoping our new owners will at least be able to find suitable replacements using their statistical based selection process.:crossed_fingers:

These were my thoughts as well.

I confess to being a greater Delia supporter than you but except that the long run has rather proved your views.

The new ownerships model is beginning to look far more the way forward, although there is still a very long way to go before I am prepared to say that it really is the way to go.

Fingers firmly crossed!

The Mighty Whites put in a fairly inept performance tonight at Norwich, with nothing much inspirational going on.

I didnā€™t see that much of the game due to crap dodgy streams conking out every other minute, so I guess us insinuating our way up to fourth isnā€™t so bad, even if it does prove to be only temporarily.

Did see the handbags involving Joe Gelhardt, which was probably the most entertaining moment in an otherwise pretty dull match.

Decent result at a ground where no away team wins, with a makeshift midfield. Donā€™t think Messlier made a save? Norwich defended their way to halftime but gave it more of a go 2nd half. Honours even. Fair result would be the neutrals view I expect. We move on to face the league leaders next. Not a happy hunting ground from memory & with yet another injury to a key player. Canā€™t beat the Championship.

Ps: Dave we were better than you suggest (imo).

I was expecting Celtic to get their a$$es handed to them but not quite this badly.

Stupid bloody game. Harrumph!

Just back from the Leeds game. 1-1 was a fair result. Leeds team look very capable and the pace was a deal faster than the usual championship game.
Iā€™m afraid we kept giving the ball away too easily to warrant more.
Gunn made a couple of decent saves to preserve the point.
Another excellent performance from Kellen Fisher who looks a very good prospect.

My dodgy stream must have kept dropping out at the good bits.

Injuries now piling up for us but, no excuses, weā€™re back to playing like we did between January and March and thatā€™s accompanying what I expect will be a slow slide to mid table.

A point is a point I suppose but disappointed that our recent progress was not to evident.

It appears that we are always frightened by teams we perceive are as good or better than us. Opposition sides rarely seem frightened by us & always fancy their chances.

Perceptions that JHT needs to change.

Keep it up Mike.

I have always been a bit of a pesimist but realise I could learn a lot from you!

One good thing about pessimism is that you are never too disappointed when it all goes wrong as you had prepared for it. When it goes right itā€™s wonderful as you never expected good news.

The poor optomist is expecting things to go well & is therefore not particularly excited when they do!

Dave, you must have been nodding off! I thought we showed some great approach play, just not clinical enough as usual but promising.

It looks like we have gone from two holding midfielders to two attacking ones. Tanaka showed that he can see a pass but we really need someone to just stay back.

Aaronson worked his socks off but just needs a bit more finesse in his final pass but what a (re) signing Gnonto has been - best player on the pitch.

Is the squad a bit thin? Anyway, thatā€™s my 2 cents!!

Couldnā€™t find a reliable stream last night, so spent more and more time endlessly refreshing the crap one I was watching, which probably didnā€™t help my concentration and enjoyment of the game.

Wee Wullie Gnonto?

Top man, particularly since heā€™s dropped back into being a more free ranging attacker who just pops up all over the place.

Thought the Gelhardt handbags episode was hilarious.

Is this the same Gary Oā€™Neil who admitted on tv that he purposely picked up a booking to ensure he received a ban so he could spend time at home. Whilst his club was fighting relegation he thought it more important to watch the US Masters on the tv than give his all for his club. Absolute wally!

I donā€™t think we were in awe of Leeds. They are a good team and it was always going to be a close game. We came back well and were on top in the final quarter.
JHT has, from what Iā€™ve seen, transformed the outlook and performance of the team compared to the previous two seasons.
Where we may come unstuck is squad depth and lack of a creative player capable of providing that killer pass.

Iā€™m basing my opinion from what I saw on the field while he was at Norwich.

It will be all better on Sunday in Dingwall.
