Football Summer Transfer Window 2026

Amazingly, Leeds were very much his second choice. Wrexham fans were fully aware that in the unlikely event of our having got promoted last season all the details of the deal to come to us had been hammered out with Fulham and Harry. Open secret in North Wales which all his friends and family were happy to talk about. Would have been a far better signing than Broadhead and Moore.

Everybody loves a Disney story.

If only that were true. Nevertheless, well known locally and widely reported internationally.

So Newcastle continue their search for young talent from the continent (and at much lower prices than the Premier League) and have agreed to sign Sean Steur from Ajax (subject to his medical tomorrow).

I don’t recall seeing him play during last year’s Champions League. Are there any Eridivisie watchers on the forum who can shed any light on his talents?

I was called arrogant up thread when I suggested this and investing in your academy should be your approach rather than spending all of the excellent profit you have made so far on ‘ready made’ players.

You are a big club with a great history, have an excellent stadium and huge support and are backed by the richest owners in the whole league, you are an attractive prospect for young players with growing reputations add to that an excellent young coach and a reputation for blooding academy players into your first team and in five to 10 years you can no doubt build a club to rival anybody.

I know fans of your club and Aston Villa don’t want to wait and want success now and believe that the current so called big six are doing all they can to prevent that from happening and of course FFP etc has favoured those established clubs but built with patience and care both you and Villa and also the likes of Nottingham Forest or Leeds within a few years can be more than capable of challenging any club in the league.

But having another situation where a club like Manchester City can rise from obscurity to amassing 100 points a season and winning the title 7 or 8 times in a decade by means of financial doping can’t be allowed to happen again because this is sport not banking.

  • Martín Zubimendi – €70m
  • Eberechi Eze – €69.3m
  • Viktor Gyökeres – €66.9m
  • Noni Madueke – €56m

  • Martin Odegaard - €40m

And you nearly bought relegation

Xavi Simmons - £65 million
Mohamad Kudus £63.8 million
Connor Gallagher £40 million
Mathys Tel £35 million
Kevin Danso £25 million
D Solanke £64 million
Archie Grey £41 million
W Odobert £29 million
B Johnson £55 million
James Maddison £45 million

Given that this is a discussion that’s not on the transfer window but is effectively the fans of 4 PL clubs discussing other people’s transfer business rather than their own I can’t for the life of me see why this isn’t just in the PL thread.

Absolutely. You bought better. But your post is a rather poor attempt at deflection.

It doesn’t get away from the fact that it is staggeringly hypocritical to say that other teams should not spend money on expensive ready-made players when you lot have been doing exactly that.

Unbelievable.

Sorry Mike. I’ve had my say and will back out now. But this sort of arrogance from the privileged really pees me off.

No need for an apology. Just surprised it’s a thread pretending to be about the window when it’s just the same pi@£ing contest we see on the PL thread. Who you bought previously isn’t about the window at all. There are lots more interesting things happening in the window elsewhere.

Mike you are not in charge of what is discussed here people are completely free to say and discuss whatever they chose on this thread if it isn’t to your liking you are free to remove yourself from it.

Aye, come on lads, stick to the subject matter! :rofl:If people don’t like the content of the thread, rather than try and police it, they can just tune out/ignore. Just a thought.

I don’t recall asserting that I was, so, good straw man there. If you take the first sentence out of my last post Im sure you’ll grasp my point.

For the avoidance of any doubt, it was that

  • people are free to start threads as they wish and contribute as they wish within the terms of the site.
  • this thread wasn’t needed. It could have been accommodated within the PL thread as it’s not a thread about the transfer window at all. It’s the usual people indulging in a p@€%ing contest. Minimal interest in the actual window and none in anything outside of 4 clubs.

Also for the avoidance of doubt, my previous posts do refer to the current transfer window.

One poster insinuates that Newcastle should not spend big money on top players and should concentrate on their academy.

However, his own club constantly buy big expensive players and I merely pointed out the hypocracy.

Hmm… For the avoidance of doubt, my posts on here have been about my teams dealing in the transfer window this summer. :black_heart::white_heart:. How someone can assert that a ‘thread isn’t needed’ is unnecessary. The person creating any thread is surely the one choosing whether it is needed/desired? Anyway, back to transfers please.

Seems to have worked just fine for us for 5 years now.

For the avoidance of any doubt I started this thread and it is absolutely for people to discuss both their own clubs signings and other clubs signings too so feel free to discuss whatever you wish.

The thread should be taken down.

159 posts in & no one has mentioned, or even hinted at, Norwich yet……. hardly acceptable.

Now we’re in the same league, we Irons are definitely interested in Norwich… what’s happening with you guys on the old transfer front? It’s all quiet on ours.
