Forum Factory Visit - Summer 2025

The excellent Paul from IT did a shortQ&A. I felt compelled to ask for some clarity on the FW issue. In as much as are Naim the slave of the module that Stream Unlimited provide which ultimately governs how each FW release will sound allowing for FW tweaking. I made it clear that I still prefer the less is more organic type sound of 3.8. Just my opinion of course.

Basically yes they can only work with what they are given. Next FW release is actually not far away so it will be interesting to find out how that sounds

Big thanks to Mark R and Jas G for putting on a great day for us all. Nice to meet a group of really nice forum guys today also :+1:

How well did the SL2s sound? (I declare an interest, as I have SL2s myself.)

Great IMO. The more open sounding Focals were preferred by several of the guys though. I have to be honest and say that my active SL2 system at home still trumps the full S1 passive in that room. Providing a more intimate sound.

Lovely to hear 500 and S1, but not too many of us will be going there…….

Ah well, an exciting new FW release is something to look forward to both in terms of (let’s hope) SQ and, perhaps, a couple of functionality additions eh?

Probably best not to speculate, and thanks for the great feedback on the day :+1::grinning_face:.

Nothing shabby about 552/500 though. It clearly revealed how significant adding a second 555ps to the ND555 is.

I likely know who you mean/meant, sounds like you had a v v interesting day, with a great memory experience / interrupt! The sound experience will long equal the wonderful peps based at hq!

Was the cable shaker on show?!

@Richard.Dane - thankyou for organising a fascinating and enjoyable day. Pass on our collective thanks to the Naim Team.

Nice to meet a few forum members in the flesh (no ‘ooh matron’ jokes required ).

What a great day! I was lucky enough to attend as first reserve due to a late dropout.
Many thanks to all of the team for a fantastic day. Seeing the staff working in the factory and listening to Mark, Jason, Steve and Paul, it struck me that there is a genuine passion to innovate and to ensure that Naim products reproduce music in a way which moves the listener. I’m sure there aren’t many companies who would support such a candid and honest approach to visitors.
The demo of the full statement system was amazing with both the SL2 and Focal speakers. The incremental improvements as we moved up the ladder were clear.
What a great place to work and refreshing to see such enthusiasm.
Well done Naim and many thanks @Richard.Dane for organising!
Great to meet fellow Forum members including firmware warrior @Cohen1263.
To anyone considering putting their name in the hat for future visits, don’t think twice !

Can’t you ask them to do the same work for your Nd555 as the one done of Dark Bear item? He said his Nd555 never sounded this good, even during the golden 3.8.

I did not actually say that, just that I finally felt I was hearing what 3.11 was capable of doing.
They are both different signatures and both do different things well.

Nice to hear it all went well!
I have attended two such events in years past and they were most enjoyable insights into things Naim.

What Focal speaker was being demo? Still Scala?
