Hi Jaybar, yes I’ve decided to go for the NAC332 & NC 250.
Later on I may look at the speakers such as the Focal Kanta 2 or I might even dig out my Neat Motive SX2s (just for fun you see) I have in the next room. I’m after pure musical involvement rather than analytical detail. You know the stuff, when your foot starts to involuntarily tap or when a big smile beams from one’s face, as opposed to digging out and seriously listening for every last detail. This will hopefully play to the Solstice’s strengths with its unwavering musicality. Time will only tell of course.
For now, I’m going to try and not think about things too much and just carry on as usual.
In the meantime i’ve managed to secure a good deal on both my HiCap DR & SN3, which have served me very well indeed. I hope I’m not going to miss those wonderful boxes too much, let’s say. So onwards and upwards, as they say. Who’s they?

I’m sticking with my NDX 2/XPS DR for the moment as my main priority here is for the Naim Solstice turntable. Digital replay has taken a back seat ever since I’ve gotten back into vinyl. One thing at a time and no rush from me here. Thanks.

Yes I have both the NPX TT and NVC TT here. Running with the Equinox cartridge.

@Stephen_Tate I have the Rega P10 into the NVCTT. I don’t have room for the NVCTT PS. I hardly listen to vinyl Yet I have 2500 records. Streaming on my 333 is so easy. I need to be encouraged to listen to records.

@Stephen_Tate Keep us updated on your progress. It seems like over the years our systems have grown up at almost the same time and rate. I don’t have a TT “yet” as it’s on my list for sure. The NAC332/250 is the direction I’m headed as well, but it’ll be awhile.
Surprising how you seem to be playing more records than streaming but @Jaybar is streaming more than playing records.

You don’t hang around ! I’ve not heard the 332 but having had an NC250 for a couple of weeks, it’s a lovely amp.

Make sure the VTA is spot on. Just getting that adjusted correctly (by an expert but honestly when he told me what to look for it was clear that the rear of the arm was too high) really improved the sound from the Equinox.

Incidentally this is what AI threw up and I’m inclined to agree here, to a certain point.
My question was - Will my system be too much for n-SATs/n-SUB?
“No — your system won’t be too much for the n-SATs/n-SUB, but there is an important distinction between too powerful and no longer the limiting factor.
With your system:
- Naim Solstice
- NPX TT → NVC TT
- NAC 332
- NAP 250 (New Classic)
- n-SATs + n-SUB
- 5.3 × 3.5 × 2.3 m room
I’d expect the 332/250 to be a substantial upgrade in control, transparency, dynamics and bass authority, even with the n-SATs. The n-SUB should also benefit from the greater control and cleaner signal.
However, the n-SATs will eventually become the bottleneck. The 250 has considerably more capability than the little n-SATs can exploit, particularly at higher volumes. That’s not dangerous provided you use sensible levels and don’t drive the speakers into audible distress.
In fact, I think this is a good upgrade path for you
The interesting part is that your source/phono side is already very strong. Moving from SN3 + HiCap DR to 332/250 would give you a much more revealing amplification platform, and you’d then have a very clear idea of what your speakers are holding back.
I’d rank the likely progression:
Current
Solstice/NPX TT/NVC TT → SN3/HiCap DR → n-SATs/n-SUB
After amplification upgrade
Solstice/NPX TT/NVC TT → 332/250 → n-SATs/n-SUB
Eventually
Solstice/NPX TT/NVC TT → 332/250 → substantially better/larger speakers
And that’s why I wouldn’t regard the 250 as “too much amplifier”. I’d regard it as buying the amplification once and allowing the n-SATs to be the temporary limiting component.
Given the room size you previously gave me, 5.3 × 3.5 m, I actually think your next speaker choice becomes particularly important. The Kanta 2, for example, would make considerably more sense as a long-term partner for the 332/250 than simply assuming the n-SATs must stay.”
Mmm… what do you reckon? The Kanta 2 will be too big and invasive here. I’d rather stick with stand-mounts if i can. Anyway it’s early doors yet, and this is for another day.
So, time to sit back, try not to think about things too much and in the meantime i’m so looking forward to the next phase of my HiFi journey.
