Interesting there is always another thing to improve in this hobby Got a Chord powerhaus and now only need a oneway wall socket. The ncf version is rhodium plated but my cable gold plated, would the ncf-rhodium still be preferable to the cheaper non ncf version that also come as gold plated?
So 12 days on, on and off listening but always the same albums or playlists,
Bass is now not bloated, but softer if that makes any sense.
Overall it provides a little gain on everything, giving little given a great overall gain.
Minor quibble is mid if more forward.
To sum it system just feels more dynamic yet relaxed, as in not rushed, or thrown out of the speakers.
A bargain upgrade, but not the nasty but posh looking wall socket it replaced and still no dedicated ring, spur.
I have had mine installed and run the system for about 24 hours now. Along with my 552 which still isn’t anywhere near what it should be I’ll refrain from posting any impressions as so much needs to burn in I wouldnt know exactly what’s causing the sound difference. I will have to revert to older tested amplifiers from the old socket to gain any meaningful impression
Don’t worry just enjoy it.
I recall when I ordered new power cables, fuses, ethernet and USB cables, I wanted to sequentially introduce each item, after the first 3 I though sod it and did the whole lot in one go, I knew from the first 3 it was good, but the total one shot change was a big shift.
Another 9 days on bass has gone a bit bloomy, but midrange is sublime, but that half hash removal, whereby you can make out more details, just about.
Vocals are very rich, clear.
I’m experiencing a less exciting sound overall. Although my cables, my 552 and the Furutech socket are all new. So I’m just going to have to sit and wait. God this is frustrating. Lol. Everything is nowhere near where I expect it to be.
200-300 hours will do it. If there is a standard socket next to the Furutech on the wall, you can swap and compare once the burn in is all done to evaluate the differences. Patience is the key and you would be amply rewarded.
2-300 hours of music playback or just amps powered on into the socket?
There’s no analogue signal through the mains. The sockets are only going to be subjected to AC mains whether music is playing or not and the current drawn hardly varies either between a power amp being on and actually driving speakers with a signal. As long as things are plugged in and powered on current will be drawn over conductors.
So, if you leave the system powered on for 10 days the time will fly by. If not, it will feel like a slog that takes weeks/months.
Amps or other components powered on into the socket.
I have only just discovered that the less exciting sound is very likely to have been by a transit bolt left in the 552 upon installation. (My brother in law can’t follow simple instructions)
I will update once I have some new speakers in.

How did it turn out? Is the bass still soft as in a bit lean or soft attack.
Do you have an additional standard switched socket on the wall to compare with this Furutech NCF socket? If yes perhaps you can do some long - term comparison, listening on the standard switched socket for few days or weeks, switch to the Furutech socket and then go back to the standard switched socket after that to ascertain the differences in sound quality.
I’m interested to know if the differences are noticeably appreciable or negligible.
That is a law of nature.
So in Nov 2022 your brother-in-law said, “Yes, I’ve taken out the transit bolt and put it in your jamjar of hifi odds and ends”, but he hadn’t?
How long did it take you to discover this and how did you discover it?
Yes when my brother in law and I were installing the 552 I was holding it and I asked him to unscrew all the white transit bolts. I should have paid attention to how many he unscrewed and put away. I cannot remember exactly how long but it was a number of weeks perhaps longer than a month. I remember speaking to my dealer thinking I’d received a sub optimal 552DR as I had owned one two years prior that sounded superb. I remember missing my NAC 52 at the time and regretted selling it. He assured me that it’s probably just a long warm up so as I was fiddling around with hifi tweaks one day I noticed a small white bolt head under the casing of the 552. I was annoyed and relieved at the same time.
I think the bolt in the 552 was contributing to the lacklustre sound however I still think the rhodium plated NCF socket took an age to burn in. This is the case with all NCF products from Furutech of which I have 4 in total.
Must have been a delight to unscrew it and bask in the glorious sound.
Indeed it was. Although I would still say there was a further improvement later on. The 500 series takes a long time to burn in.
My first 552DR was a used pre so I didnt experience burn in although the warm up still took some time.
But my brand new 552DR and relatively new 500DR which the previous owner barely used in 1 year of ownership took their sweet time to settle in.
The NAC 52/135s in comparison warm up quicker and don’t require as much attention in setup.
