Gardening

JohnF, do you know what the minimum temps were in your garden for the worst 2-3 days in that December cold spell?

The only problem with straw stuffed in the top is it’s a bit of a sponge and can keep the crown soggy. Not normally a problem, but not best in this country. Horticultural fleece is better imo.

I use fleece bags on banana’s and they work well. If the tree ferns survive I will use fleece bags on them next year.

Let battle commence.

Time to repot the orchid waifs and strays nursery.

Never bought one. Found in skips, donated, house clearance etc.

Much needed.

I knew there would be a good use for the Daily Mail.
Bin day so I took it from one of my many far right neighbours’ bin.
Think ahead.

I feel guilty. Our young cat has recently attached one, I then put it outside not knowingly that they are not really able to survive in cold temperatures.

And the new entrance is there.

It is an extremely accurate newspaper , it gets every front page right.

It’s hardly gardening but our Veranda gets closer to completion.

Electricity and water cables are routed through the entire garden.

Verandah looks very nice👍

Thanks yes indeed. It’s prepared for lighting and on the spot I took the photo from we have planned to create a bar. The teenagers will love it.

Working here at the moment:

I’m trying to convince my wife of building a Victorian greenhouse here together with a chicken coup. We’ve agreed on the chicken coup and the greenhouse, but she’s not prepared yet for the ‘Victorian’ style.

We don’t have a garden due to space etc but always have herbs and chilies.

We were given this bonsai Morton Bay fig about 20 years ago. It’s never been trimmed (deliberately anyway) or cared for, just watered. We were thinking of taking it to specialist but are unsure. I can’t believe it’s still alive.
