A day for the sprinters, but there’s plenty still to make life difficult for them; the stage’s punishing length, the potential for hot, stuffy weather, technical urban roads, and a series of small hills in the final 40km.
With a welcome rest-day tomorrow there will be guaranteed have a go attack action coming from all sides.
As ever thanks for all your updates. Just a minor point, you have Cian correctly as a Visma rider in the overall ranking but still a Bora rider in the Maglia Bianca rankings and in your narrative about the change in the jersey. I was really impressed by him ( and G) yesterday.
POG is currently on a different planet from the rest of the peleton - hopefully he has the capacity to maintain this level of performance over the whole tour. I had a slight signal feed problem last evening watching the highlights on Eurosport and an image froze during the final climb. Taking up a chunk of the tv screen was the face of Rafa Majka; and what a harrowing image that was! He absolutely gave everything to lead out POG on the final climb; got dropped and clawed his way back to the front of the group. The sheer pain etched on his face during the forced freeze frame on my tv was a perfect summary of the world of pain these guys get themselves into. Truly incredible how they do that to themselves!
I was talking to a work colleague who races in a leauge in Surrey and has 4 bikes and commutes 120 miles every week about Poj at the Giro and he was saying he seems to recover after a stage like no other rider. My colleauge is a doctor and has read articles about Poj’s physiology and seen his data on power output etc.
I did ask if he thought he was doping but he said he didnt …just in amazing shape
142km is a short distance for a road race, so we can expect some energetic action, attacks, breakaways and chases. Most of this ride is easy going but the final climb to the summit finish is 18km of leg sapping hell.
The questions are; will a break make it to the finish before the GC peloton catch them (?) and, will Tadej take more time out of his rivals (?)

We have a change of jersey for tomorrow!
Instead of Tadej lending his Maglia Azzurra to Dani Martínez, he will now lend it to Simon Geschke who today becomes 2nd place in the KOM
Martínez has slipped down to 4th in the KOM, maybe he is taking his GC (and quest for a podium position in Rome) more seriously now he is 2nd to the Maglia Rosa.
Good to see two brothers working well together, and Valentin Paret-Peintre looking overjoyed as he crossed over the winning line, he also gained 50 KOM points which moves him up to 3rd place and just 3 points behind Simon Geschke.
Romain Bardet had a go for a stage win today but failed by 29 seconds off the pace of the winner but his 2nd place arrival gains him 7th GC position at 4:57 down.
A day for the sprinters supposedly but this won’t stop the stage hunters with climbing ability launching attacks from the start, however it’s unlikely a breakaway can make it to the finish without being reeled back in by the powerful sprinter trains, and due to the 207km length of course.

155 riders on today’s start-line and Stage 11 is underway!
A second stage win for Jonathan Milan, at 6’ 4" tall and weighing in at 84kg he is a beast, but although presently in a commanding lead it’s not over yet, his nearest rival Kaden Groves is a better climber and there are plenty of hills and mountains to come next week.
It’s a pity Olav Kooij (Team Visma Lease a Bike) succumbed to illness before Stage 10, possibly the best sprinter in this Giro with the potential to win the Maglia Ciclamino in Rome.
There maybe a mysterious viral fever illness lurking around, latest top victim is 21 year old Cian Uijtdebroeks (Bora-Hansgrohe) who was 5th on GC, and also leading the Youth Classification with the Maglia Bianca. It was his sudden absence that caused the most changes today in the GC and Youth Classification with everyone moving up one position.
Another sprint finish in all likelihood but a breakaway win is possible.
A quartet of 4th category speed humps await along the way plus more uncategorised climbs, however the third 4th cat on route ‘Ostra’ may cause concern with 13% steep gradients and average 8.5% for 1 km. This maybe the launchpad for a cunning attack and momentary leave some sprinters struggling at the back of the peloton.
