after almost twenty years of this forum I am now tired, uninterested, uninvolved. Finding pleasure in music at home is becoming more and more difficult. Equipment used to be a trip, now it’s a trap. Seeing the good people here struggling with choices, decisions, upgrades, never being truly happy and testing other members’ advice is a transferred purgatory. This hobby has to be simpler, more innocent, easier.
I have other things to deal with - life, for one. Life also used to be a trip, now I wouldn’t know. A trap perhaps not, but at 73 every day is useful to learn something.
It’s been nice, thank you. My former arrivederci is now goodbye.
I get that. I found myself here after my own never ending Cyrus upgrade journey. One morning I abruptly woke up (with more kit on order) and just realised I was on the road to misery. So I cancelled my order, sold all my gear and bought a Nova and decided to quit the race of diminishing returns.
I’ve learned to appreciate what I have, and that obsessing about mine and others systems isn’t a hobby. Enjoy your music however works for you and enjoy other things in life. It’s all good!
At 74 I listen to some music every day but it is not the main interest in life. I walk an average of 7.1 miles a day currently. I meet with friends for morning coffee most days of the week and hit the gym three times a week. My wife and I do a couple of activities each week together but still enjoy our own separate activities.
For the forum it is mostly post an album or two, a daily wordle result and the occasional post in photography thread.
Take car Max - and I am sure you are always welcome if you want to come back.
Yes for some of us we have realised audio replay perfection is largely in the mind rather than reliant on some sort of gizmo.. and as such dont take this hifi stuff too seriously
Oh dear, sorry to see you go. As said in your previous thread, your contributions are always intersting, sometime (rightfully) thiught provoking. I shall enjoy visiting your drliggtful homeland again at Easter… Ciao / arrivederci
I’m sorry to see you go, Max. I shall miss your contribution to this forum and particularly the photographs of your lovely room. Best wishes to you for the future.
Good luck Max. We will all miss your (occasionally mischievous) contributions and your wonderful turn of phrase. I hope you have a rethink and that we see you back here when you are good and ready. The forum will be poorer without you.
