Guru Audio, Guru 12 - any real experience?

Giving them a run on the end of the Musical Fidelity A1, image height always been a Guru strength, sounds liquid with Red Sky July.

Doggo approves?

That’s going to take a while, but for me the Qm10’s saw off their big brother of the Qm60, so they punch up.

Feels like asking which one of your children is favourite…:grinning:

Great to see you have them back! Glad your trust was justified too, good result in the end I hope

Yup, super happy and relieved.

And the good news is the latest spec Q10’s sound damned amazing.

Do the Guru 8/12 have ports?

Yes. Both have ports on the front right at the bottom under the speaker grille (if in position). The front porting is part of the reason that they are very easy to place near to a rear wall. Look closely and you will see a black slot in all the photos above.

As @badlyread said, little more difficult to spot on the 12’s, and presumably the 8’s well when compared to Q10’s and Junior.

On the pic with my Q10’s atop my 12’s you’ll see what looks like speaker stand plate beneath the 12’s but that is the port in a dark grey colour.

The pic further up in the thread shows it well, from July 3rd.

Just received from Audio Tuning:

thanks for your interest into Guru Audio products. Please note, that we have taken over production and distribution of Guru Audio from the Swedish company People Audio.
Note, that production will start here in Europe (actually in Czechia) by end of this year.
We are working already on the establishment of distributors worldwide.

Looks like encouraging news!

I’ll move the Q10’s into the house later today to run them in over weekend in place of the 12’s.

But before that switched them to the Technics SUG700M2 from the MFA1 and ran the LAPC tool to calibrate speakers.

Well, just lovely, whilst they still need some running in Guru’s with the MF possibly too much of a good thing and are sounding wonderfully neutral and punchy and better combination than the MF, which combined was maybe too euphoric.

I’m sure the Q10’s will enjoy the Supernait watts once’s again later in the day, good lesson in the nuances of amp and speaker combinations.

Just before the Q10’s returned I’d just got the Kef Ls50 metas sounding stunning on the MF A1 and the energy of the amp here snaps the Kef’s out of their introvert character that can present itself at times.

Be interesting to hear the 12’s on the Technics now.

The running in begins.

They just do textures so well and especially capable of holding a tune at low volume.

Guru speakers work well at low volume? This is important for late night listening, tv watching e.t.c

In swapping all the speakers round last night I was left underwhelmed by my new MF A1, it was sounding just a bit shouty.

Anyway, today was doing some more messing about and found for the first time ever I’d wired up the speaker terminals the wrong way round.

Sorted now and the magics back, my word. Muppet.

magic’s back - with MF A1?

Yup, but also with the new. Q10’s and Supernait.

So you wrongly wired them in both systems? At lest that’s consistent

No, just wired both Kef speakers round the wrong way when on the MF amp. Of course I now have no way of knowing if I miswired up the Guru 12’s when I put them on the MF A1.

However the Guru’s are more obviously labelled than the Kefs, which particularly in the low light I was operating in at the time is more understandable. (Ok, I’m not even convincing myself here, it was a muppet move).

Ah, ok. So your initial assessment that the MF was a bit too much ‘euphoric’ for the Guru’s still stands?
