Guru Audio (not Alison) look like they will soon be in a position to offer their wonderful speakers on a more reliable basis. Their website has been updated recently with new photos and blurb. I believe manufacturing and distribution have now been outsourced to Audio Tuning (Musical Fidelity/Pro-Ject etc) I remember reading somewhere (I could be wrong about that).
They are wonderful sounding speakers that have a simple yet stylish Swedish aesthetic.
Hey BR, the website looks good and yes they have a link up with the Project group so hopefully the production line can flow and solve the supply issues that have been a struggle throughout.
I’ve been really pleased with both my 12’s and my original Q10’s , which Erik upgraded to latest spec for free.
The Q10’s are now partnering a Nait 50 and make a thrilling combi. Either the latest spec Q10’s have greater power handling capabilities or Erik disconnected the little blue LEDs that used to indicate when you might want to back off from 11 to 10 as i haven’t seen a flicker so far.
Loved my Q10’s on the end of a 282/200 I believe it was, unfortunately they blew one night smoke, burning smell the whole lot. My other half playing Fairytale of New York and after a little too much Christmas spirit asked a bit much of them.
I had the original (well sort of Mk 1.5 as original driver line up but improved cabinets) and they could handle less power than the Mk2’s that I also had.
Sold the Mk2’s to a mate as I always preferred the presentation of the Mk1’s but then one of them died in the tweeter department. Cue Erik the Viking to make the fabulous offer to repair by bringing them up to latest specifications as a thank you for buying the new 12’s and giving permission to use my daughters quote about them that I shared with him in passing.
The new 12’s are a lot more powerful sounding, just more of everything , but the latest spec Q10’s really just gel with the main room sound wise.
Would be great to see Erik make a success of this tie up.
He did say he was planning a Turntable for next year, presumably a rebadged Project.
