Be good to see this get the speakers to a wider audience.

You got the 8’s! Enjoying them?
Just look so right, very elegant.
Been tinkering with positioning early this morning.
Pop up desk and chair not there usually for listening , necessity of work.
Only had them out briefly as there is more plastering to be done but suffice to say they are staying!
I used to have the Guru Juniors with my DAC V1 and despite the hype at the time, it didn’t really work for me, although Ioved the design of the Guru’s. I am very curious how the 8 would work combined with Nait50.
@badlyread , have you tried them with your Nait50?
That will have to wait until I have finished the work that needs doing and I can get the whole system in place again. But I will say that the Juniors worked well with the N50.
I have the slightly larger 12’s on a Nait 50 and it drives them beautifully.
Also had the 10’s on my other Nait 50 and same result. They are back on SN3 now as Nait 50 on loan with a mate who has an amp away being serviced.
He has been suitably impressed by the little Nait.
Look fabulous Neil. Glad you like them.
My beloved Guru Juniors now reside in Las Vegas!
A Guru Junior cw a new Guru 8. System back up at the weekend.
I’m sure their new owner will treasure them, plus they will add a little bit more fun and drive to sin city.
Hello everyone. I just happened to listen to the Guru Q10 ten days ago. Impressive. A wall of sound. But, at high volume there was distortion. I assumed that such a small driver simply could not handle higher volumes. Anyway, the problem seems to have arisen in the NAD amplifier (entry model B something). We just pick some Amp fro the store. Although the speaker seems small, it needs quite a bit of power from the amplifier. Since I have ordered the new MF M3si, I will test both models (q10 and 12) on this amplifier.
Hi Matevz, welcome to the forum.
There are a few of us on the site that have experience of Guru speakers and are fans of what they do.
Hope the next listen goes well with the MF amp.
I’ve always found Guru speakers an easy load for an amp, the Q10’s will go loud without dynamics collapsing on themselves but the size of the room is key, as you say, small drivers so if putting them into a large room then expectations have to be tempered.
The 12’s have larger drivers and can better fill larger spaces.
Also key is to try to keep to the Guru positioning guidance of close to the rear wall and not just put them on stands where other more typical placements are, they will still sound good but diminish some of the Guru magic.
Thanks Adam.
I listened to the speakers in a much larger space than my living room (my living room is actually quite small, about 4x5m), and even there the bass was impressive. I will place the speakers on stands near the wall, because that is exactly why they caught my eye. I am limited by space and simply cannot move them 1m away from the wall. We will see how they perform in my home environment. Fortunately, I can borrow all three models of bookshelf speakers. 8, Q10 and 12 and also floorstanding models. But, as far as I have tested other companies, the floorstanding ones have always been too bulky for my taste. At least in my relatively small room.
I had had Juniors since they were first launched and did try the 12s recently. Fantastic speakers but, although just being a little bigger than the 8s, they were just too big for the space. So I have a new set of 8s and everything is as it should be again. A set of 8s might be all you need but you are in the lucky position of having all the models to try.
Let us know how you get on.
In coming weeks I will compare audition both Guru’s (probably 8) and Neat Petites at home.
Hi. Here is the report.
First I tried the Guru 12. I didn’t like them at all. Too much of everything. Maybe it would sound different in a larger room or with different music ( I prefer jazz, fusion and rock). Even the bass, which is impressive and acts like a subwoofer, was not for my ears.
Then I tried the Guru Q10. Well, that’s a completely different story.
They fill the room with sound. Maybe they are not for real ‘audiophiles’ who want to hear every detail (significantly different from the Audiovector, which I was able to compare them with in the store. btw, the high frequencies from the audiovector are simply fantastic), but they create an impression reminiscent of a concert atmosphere. It’s really hard to describe. I listened with my wife and son and all of us had a smile on our faces. It’s not perfect sound, but it is pleasant and even at lower volumes it doesn’t lose that magic.
The Guru Q10s fit the room so perfectly that I didn’t bother with the Guru 8, also because they were a demo pair, and as a result the price was relatively affordable.
Since English is not my native language anyway (although I use it on a daily basis), I used Google Translate to help me. I hope it didn’t translate too much nonsense ![]()
