Self-deprecating humour makes the British the best people. Wow.
Some countries are trialling basic universal income. I would certainly be happy if my government was giving me money.
It’s an interesting idea though, giving money directly to those that need it, but not in perpetuity. A hand-up vs. hand-out, as that approach cuts out all the activists, social workers, and do-gooders who skim off the majority of the monies set aside for welfare.
I’m somewhat surprised that the UAE isn’t high in the list of “happiness”.
They have shed loads of dosh, the “locals” that is (who account for about 18% of the population).
They have a Ministry of Happiness. And they have specialist “Happiness” police officers.
Every non-local with a job always smiles.
They rank No. 2 in the World regarding safety from crime
and are blessed with a benevolent Monarchy.
