Happy 50th Anniversary Naim Audio!

Happy birthday Naim! 50 years doesn’t happen by accident, it takes the commitment of the team to deliver quality, service and compelling products time and time again. Thank you for the music!

na50?
What’s that then? @GeoffC

Yes, what he said! I want to know too!

Perhaps you need to buy a Nait 50 to find out…

I really would like to, but not likely at the price. Besides, my XS3 is doing a fine job along with the matching streamer. :slightly_smiling_face:

I wondered if you might, sorry I didn’t get your OK to use it - as one of the best I have seen here it was an easy selection for my purpose.

The images were to illustrate and celebrate landmarks of the different amplifier range styles - nait chrome / 52 olive / 500 classic and 250 new classic.

That’s OK, I’m fine with you to use it.

One of the first things I did at Naim was to rewrite what was called the Naim menu. It was a bit of software that was on everyone’s computer and was essentially a list of links to the various computer systems. It was in vb and had reached the limit of links that could be added. Plus you’d have to recompile it to make any change.
Anyway, for the rewrite I selected a few images that I felt highlighted Naim through the years, each one serving as a background image. You could choose your favourite or get a random one.

Hi @robert_h

In answer to your question - it’s a shorthand graphic for the thread title, and a visual response to @QuickSticks book comment.

Oh I see, a very clever mock-up!
I’m kind of hoping there’s something extra in the nait 50 box ….

Happy 50 Naim Audio!
I wonder what the company was called in 1971 when the Nap 160 was introduced?

NAP 160 1971 New case 1980
NAP 160 1971 Discontinued 1986

Naim started out in 1969 with Julian making a sound and light box and then starting to make amplifiers. Naim was incorporated as Naim Audio Ltd in June of 1973.

Thank you

According to Robin; “I’m pretty certain it was a crossover for some active PA speakers - note it’s got rack mount ears on it. The adjustment pots on the front allowed the levels to be tweaked without removing the unit from the rack.”

And on the subject of Robin, it turns out he’s currently the second longest serving member of the Naim team. Longest is Clive who used to build the Aros, although there are some people who started at Naim earlier but then left and started families or went to other jobs and then returned later on to work again at Naim.

I would like to add my voice to the chorus of congratulations for this auspicious anniversary. Naim has been central to my work with music lovers now for over thirty years. Even when I play other products, from other brands, the core values that Naim introduced me to all those years ago when I first met Julian and Paul inform all of my work with customers. It might not seem like a big deal, but one thing that struck me in 1999 when I was fortunate enough to visit Naim comes to mind now. I had visited many of the top firms that our store represented over the first few years of my career in the 90’s, but it was only at Naim that every visitor I was on that dealer visit with owned and used Naim equipment. Many brands salesmen might admire, but never own. Naim inspired a much more passionate group of advocates from among their dealers. Take a bow, the good people of Naim- past and present!
