Headphone amp

I’m looking at getting a naim headphone amp my question is I own a olive hi cap can I power the headphone amp of it

You can power a Headline with a Hicap, but not if it’s already in use powering a preamp.

Yes but you will need a SLIC lead plugged into the Hicap socket 4.

A NAPSC will be OK too.

That’s the problem it is

Then you’ll need another one! Or a NAPSC, iSupply, Flatcap or Supercap.

A Hicap has only one power socket output (socket 4) so it only powers one item.

I am unsure if an iSupply would work as it has a captive 5 pin (240 deg) output.

…one version of which was designed for the later version of the headline.

Probably a lot simpler to source a napsc plus slic connecting cable.

Was it? I thought it was designed for the later Stageline.

I believe there was an adapter for use with the iSupply.

I power mine with a NAPSC and it does the job perfectly well.
Should be able to find one preloved relatively easily from the Naim Dealer network or the usual auction sites👍🏼

OK. I have never seen one.

You do not need a Slic cable if using a NAPSC to power a Headline. The 2 pin output just plugs straight into the Headline.

I agree the NAPSC is the simplest way to power the headline.

Any reason you particularly want a Naim headphone amp?

Naim don’t offer a current headphone amp apart from the Atom HE (which is excellent) but that is also a streamer and preamp.

A 2nd hand headline would likely be nice (have not tried myself) but they’re getting on a bit. Have you considered something more modern?

Main system: Headline “2” (black case) powered from an Olive Hicap via a SLIC cable.
Secondary (currently attached to a Raspberry Pi streamer) : Headline “1” (olive case) from a NAPSC.

Both sound pretty good, but if I bring the secondary into full use then I’ll need another pair of Sennheisers!
