Can anybody tell me a good European online source for a usbc to 4.4mm jack braided cable?
eBay and Amazon aren’t giving me anything and I know there must be such an item because the iFI Go Link Max dongle has a female socket for it.

It would be helpful if you indicated what you are connecting.
If this has something to do with connecting your Mark Levinson No. 5909 headphones in “pure passive mode”, you must use the included, proprietary, Mark Levinson 3.5mm to USB-C cable. As discussed previously, they are using the USB-C connector in a non-standard way to pass the analog signal into the No 5909s. Therefore, you won’t find any 3rd party, braided-cable substitutes.
Also, AFAICT, the No. 5909 pure passive mode won’t work with a balanced 4.4mm connection. It is designed for unbalanced connections, which for headphones, are typically via 3.5mm (1/8") or 6.3mm (1/4") connectors.
BTW, for audio purposes, USB-C is used to convey a digital audio signal. Conversely, 3.5mm and 4.4mm jacks are typically used to convey analog signals. Normally, the combination of these connectors (digital and analog) are not used in a passive cable, unless there’s some sort of proprietary connection involved. E.g. The proprietary ML “pure passive mode” cable.
Otherwise, a cable with both digital and analog connectors probably includes an inline DAC which does the conversion from digital to analog. In the same manner as is done in a dongle DAC. And dongle DACs typically have much better DACs than cables with a DAC hidden in one of the connectors.
Ah. Very comprehensive. Cheers, T.
Just a suggestion, but if you have further questions or things you’d like to share regarding your No. 5909s (including DACs and cables for them), perhaps you can start a dedicated “Mark Levinson No. 5909 Headphones” thread on them, and stick to it, each time something new comes up.
Nah. I think we covered it. ![]()
Are you sure?
