Help needed connecting NAP250, NAC62 and SNAPS

Dear All, I inherited a rather ancient Naim set-up from my father. It consists of a NAP250, a NAC62 and a SNAPS. I assume these have been bought in the late eighties and I recently had them serviced for what I hoped would be minor repairs. However, when connecting them, I never got anything but a rumble coming from the speakers. Here is a photo of how I connected them: is this the correct way?

As your SNAPS is still in its original single-rail form, you will need a 5 pin DIN link plug fitted to the NAC62 (far right socket in your picture), otherwise you will have no sound.

Thanks, Richard. Just to fully understand: I will need to use the “Output to Hi-cap Socket 4” instead of the “Output” socket on the NAC62 to connect to the SNAPS at socket 2? And use a cable connecting / converting a 5pin to a 4pin?

No, your connections all look fine - SNAIC 4 between NAC62 and SNAPS, and then DIN4-XLR (white banded) between SNAPS and NAP250. Just you will need to fit the 5pin DIN link plug to the far right socket on the NAC62.

Here’s what the link plug looks like just in case you aren’t sure;

p.s. on the SNAIC 4, make sure the banded end is closest to the NAC62.

Yes! Now it’s working! This gave me a headache for weeks, but I would have never guessed that little plug was the missing piece in the puzzle. Thanks so much, Richard!!!

Don’t worry, most have been caught out by not having that plug fitted. Took me ages to work out why my first nac 72 didnt light up after it was hooked up to the nap 140.

Unless you wanna keep it as it left the factory, you can upgrade your Snaps to dual rail, connecting to the far right five din input of the 62, it’s an inexpensive job at the end

@rsch what would be the benefit of that? Sorry, really new to this…

This way the Snaps becomes a sort of Hicap light, you have a better supply on specific stages of the preamp

If you want an improvement, selling the snaps and getting a Hicap is probably a much better way to go.
