Hi does anyone have experience with Dynaudio heritage special?

I have them. What do you want to know?

I currently have the special 40, with ndx2 using my Naim superunti3 as a amp right now. my question im worried if the amp can get the best out them.

And what do you like about them?

Thanks Mark

I would say they are very dynamic, natural and spacious sounding with tight bass. Even at low volume I think they sound good

I like them so much I have 2 pairs. One pair currently in storage for a planned additional system and another in use with my NC 222/250/300. A very open natural sound with plenty of bass. I moved on from the special 30, and am a big fan of their understated retro looks. A classy well built speaker. Probably best you give them a listen before buying. Is that possible?

Has anyone compared them with the Contour 20i? Am tempted to upgrade to them, but worry that they will not have quite the same sense of scale that the 20is deliver.

I had a pair of HS for 3 years, coming from special 40’s.

The S40 were good but didn’t quite hit the spot the way the HS do.. great little speakers , you won’t be disappointed.

Thanks most of my listing is at lowish levels good to know.

I’ve owned the Heritage Special for a little over 3 years. I’ve had tons of different equipment running them. They’re extremely transparent and will scale with very high dollar equipment. I wouldn’t worry too much about that. Just avoid lean sounding equipment at all costs. If you can swing it, eventually add an XPS DR to your NDX2 and a HiCap DR to your SN3 and it would sound great.

They’re a big step up from the Special 40. I also owned those before the Heritage Special. The Heritage Special is a much higher level speaker than the Contour 20i. The Contour 20i will scale a bit bigger, but the Heritage Special aren’t far behind in that regard.

I use them with a dCS Lina DAC and Lina clock straight into a Naim nc250 and a Dynaudio Sub 6. The synergy is great and bass is tuneful and agile. Great texture and tonality in and aound the notes, across the entire bandwidth. Highly recommended.

Yes. Adorable speaker. In every sense. Upgrade from the brilliant special 40’s. Traded them for the HS. Absolutely no regrets, the HS are just in a different league. Love them and have kept them and then heard and bought the contour legacies which are incredible, again in a different league with the same smooth natural listening qualities of the HS, but with a lot more presence. They disappear in the music!

Powered through 300DR. Really good at controlling them (both HS and CL but not together!). I read from other posts that the 350s are outstanding with them.

Also considering a pair of these as an upgrade from Contour 20is. It’s between them and the PMC Prophecy series (5 or 7). Love the Dynaudio sound but have found the Contours a bit congested in mid bass in my room. Wondering if HS are more forgiving room placement as can’t put them in lots of free space.

I’m not sure if the SN3 will “get the best” out of them. I heard them in a demo on the end of a Gryphon Diablo 333 integrated amp with a Grimm MU2 streamer. It was a very fine system with great dynamics. Low level performance was good too. I’d say if you were to trade up to the Dynaudio Heritage Special 40, they would survive in your system for many upgrades elsewhere.

I owned them for a couple of years. They like power, they want to be on the right stands.. Dynaudio Stand 20 with the adapter plates then they can be bolted to the stands. I also owned Special 40’s prior to the HS , no comparison . They will allow numerous upgrades. The are a special speaker.

The Dynaudio Sub 6 can lend good presence to the HS, and approach the Contour Legacy in that regard, but damn, the set up took for ever to get there. When I heard the Legacies, I drooled. I was startled by what emanates from those little things.

I agree. Subs can improve the soundstage and I use a rel carbon special pair with the HS (and even the CL). It’s interesting that I don’t need to adjust the volume or gain between the two, at least my ears tell me that the sound is good at 5 clicks (volume), 4 clicks (crossover) for both.

Lucky that you dialed it in so easily. My difficulty was self dealt, becoming overly fascinated by the room reverberation itself whilst oriented perpendicular in a narrow medium room with no acoustic tratment other than the couches. Oh well, I tell myself I understand sub-bass better now.

I lived with the HS for a couple of years. SN3 + HicapDR is an incredible pairing.

Thank you for that.

yeah I think im going to trade in for pair
