Hi , im a bit confused about naim uniti2 as a preamp NAP250DR

I belive there are 2 ways to connect my naim uniti2 as a preamp to naim NAP250DR first is 2 male phono out to 3 pinXLR into my naim DR 250DR and the other is 5 pin out of my naim uniti2 into my naim NAP250DR. Which is the best please I believe I have to put my uniti2 into preamp mode first ,other wise blue flash / bang and very expensive mess lol

And how do I put my naim uniti2 into preamp mode?

Many thanks to all for your support and advice

It’s the 4 pin DIN output on your Uniti that you should be using (not 5 pin as found on the DIN inputs.) The standard Naim cable provided with the 250 will work for this.

The pre out connection on the Uniti does not need to be turned on, but if you are no longer using its built in power amp you can turn that off using the settings on the front panel display.

Thank you very much , any recommendations for the best , reasonably, cables I’ve done my nuts on the NAP250DR, lol

The 250 should have the necessary cable in the box. If you go to the Uniti settings using the remote, you can turn its power amp off.

Ah ha ,I see I got carried away ,the used nap250dr came the other day AND there was a cable NA-48

With it us that the correct one please say yes lol

OK many thanks

I’m very sorry I’m old how do I do that please turn off the power part of my naim uniti2, I’m old lol

It’s my understanding that there is an option under the ‘speakers’ menu, see page 11 of the manual. Having looked there I cannot see an option to switch off the power amp, so I may be wrong. Go into that menu and see if the option is there. It maybe that you cannot switch the power amp off.

OK, nice thanks again, I’ve got it all powered up now much appreciated, much more power and drive now
