Can’t wait to pay a fortune for a fancy cable then fudge it up with tape or heatshrink to stop them falling apart.
Then I remember how “alleged ” Uber cables are made.
I’m now using my Uri Geller skills and trying so hard - nope, nothing, nada, zilch! The thing still will not ruddy break
Is that a stress mark just there.
No stress marks - that’s how it’s meant to look. All part of the de-coupling (armadillo) effect😉
Exactly, it will break at any moment now
Eat more beans!
To be honest, I did not remove it yet But tried on other plastic surfaces without problems. Usually window glass cleaner should help
At least this works better than a broken one…
It has been like that for 3 years, there’s nothing wrong with it, that’s how it’s supposed to be
Only gassin.
One day it may blow into pieces like an unexpected party-popper - it’s getting ready, as you’ve observed!
P.S. i purchased that HiLine brand new in 2015, no gas-lighting will change my mind. It’s a superb cable and far better than the stock lavender/grey cable, especially with a digital source component.
I’m sure it’s fine.
I just feel sorry for those inconvenienced when it gives.
Obviously they accept a flaw if they repair FOC .
I’d think about alternatives though.
I wouldn’t hesitate in purchasing another HiLine if i had to, now i know what it’s like to live with one. From a performance perspective, it’s just so blooming good…
I’m talking to AV Options about cables (they are unimpressed with HiLine cables and the high failure rate). The HiLine is garbage and I can’t go into retirement dealing with stupid cables that break like this. I really don’t want throw good money after bad replacing HiLines, but these are the worst product ever in the half century I have been collecting audio gear.
I think I might just want to cut my losses and run away. I may leave the lavender on my NDX2, replace the Hiline DIN 4-5 on my Superline and sell that before it’s broken too. If my dealer can ever get an RA for repair of my HiLine with Focal North America (they have been fighting that mess for a couple weeks now), I may just sell it on when it comes back.
ATM I don’t see spending more money on Naim gear anytime soon. The last time I did that was not a great experience either.
FWIW - I bought a lightly used HiLine from my dealer about four years ago and have never had any issues with the cable. I unplug and replug my all my cables about every six months when I do a cleaning.
Might have jinxed myself but thought the thread could use another positive customer experience.
Life is Sweet!
Likewise had a used Highline in my system for 5 years now. Immediate sound improvement and showing no signs of falling apart. Hope it stays that way…
I have a quote from AVOptions to replace my HiLine DIN 4-5 and DIN 5-5. Giving it serious consideration. It will be really nice to have cables without crappy, fragile plastic connectors if I go for it. Two trips to service center center for the same cable is good enough reason for me to abandon Naim on these.
Let us know what you end up with. I believe the HiLine existed in a very competitive price bracket so they can probably arrange several options for you.
As the NDX isn’t your main source and the standard Lavender is actually a really good lead (and it won’t fall apart), why not use that, trade in both HiLines, get one decent cable for the SuperLine, and if there’s anything left over buy more vinyl or go out to dinner.
